It is because Les has final say so and approval of the audible. It has to come from OC through Les through Kragthorpe to signal in to Jennings.

On most plays, the qb has to call the play at the line of scrimmage after reading the defense. We may not be passing the ball, but we have a thousand run checks built into the offense.

Correct. We are slow at calling the play because our young QB isn't fully confident in the play book yet. This team will continue to improve at each game.

You can see Jennings looking at the coaches, shaking his arms and hands, motioning as in "c'mon c'mon hurry up" numerous times in the game.

We have had this same problem through 5 QBs and 3 OCs. Common denominator: Leslie Edwin Miles

One great thing about watching the replay - got to see them singing the Alma Mater which I missed thf first go-round.

They looked like some happy mo-fo's singing that song. Must be an incredible feeling after a game like that.

Yeah, it's always a race to get the play off before the clock. You could see his frustration on TV. We had a guy making his first true road start at one of the toughest places to play in college football and that definitely wasn't helping his nerves. I don't think it helped the center either. They need to do better than that. We don't have time for Les to shake the Magic 8 Ball to see if it says "All Signs Point To Yes" after each play call from the booth.

When the sophomore QB starting his 7th game has to plead with the staff to get the call from the sidelines in time to get the team lined up and the ball snapped, you know we have a problem.

Would surely be nice if they would fix it before it causes more penalties and wasted TOs.

there is something wrong with our OC. seriously. he's either indecisive as hell or he is a micro mgr and has to give 50 instructions along with the play call.

Lol, you folks blame OC after OC yet the hat is the one constant

Funny this wasn't a problem with mett, last year. It's a talent issue, not a play calling issue.

That's been a problem of ours for years. We always take our sweet team getting plays in

That is why I laugh when people say our qbs can't read defenses...they never have time

With the OC in the booth it appears they are waiting till the last devensive set to send a play and then we have no time to set and execution is lacking because of the hurried state we have put them in.

That doesn't make sense. The defense usually adjusts to the offensive sets

it's because he checks into the wrong running play way too often.

yeap. checks to a play ran in a diff formation than what they have the personnel for.

I think the coaches actually simplified it this week. jennings is still a 50% passer, but hopefully he can just manage until Harris is ready. I dont really think the offense is hard to watch, Just run LF. he is fun to watch.

Honestly, later in the game, plenty of times the play was in and jennings had time to read and audible. i recall being impressed we were actually getting up to the line with 15 seconds on the clock instead of 5.

Are we not recruiting QBs that can learn our system? AJ has been in the system a year longer than BH.

Look at some of the other teams in the SEC and their QB's do not seem to have the issues we do.

When we have the opportunity we do not invest in the backup. There were times we could have played AJ last year and did not. This is a systemic problem .

I don't think it is the QB. You can see Jennings shaking his arms like hurry up multiple times a game. It is a sideline issue

It also forces AJ to spend too much time being sure everybody was lined-up where they were supposed to be and not enough time reading the D.
AJ isn't asked to read the defense

that's why he does the check with me

Winning is great for these youngsters. As they learn it'll be ugly at times but they're getting better and thats what this season is all about. Winning saturday and getting to 6 wins will be another big step.
