If, god forbid, Ebola becomes an issue in the US this will be the primary reason why.
People who work at McDonalds etc will not be willing to lose a days worth of pay to go to the hospital.

Also the only one w/o paid maternity leave and the one with by far the shortest vacation days.

Who do you people work for?
Technically I'm a government contractor. We get all paid State holidays, get off at 2 on days before holidays, FMLA, maternity, 30 days PTO per year, sick leave, and it doesn't count as a day off if we work a half day.
Oh, my company also doesn't charge for morning sickness or doctors appointments (pregnant or not) either. It's pretty sweet.
Eta: they also have paid paternity leave.
Eta2: we also have a week of bereavement pay. I could have taken half of last week and half of this week off, but I chose not to because I didn't want to be home. I need to be occupied

my wife worked for an organization for a few years that didn't offer paid sick leave. you had to take your vacation days if you were going to miss work.
obviously, people would just come in to work sick and then get everyone else sick.
Its fricking retarded to not allow employees sick time. Yeah, some will abuse it but its better than threatening the health of your employees and customers b.c you are a cheap bastard.

You are free to start a non-profit and offer these benefits. If you can only help one laborer gain paid-sick leave it will have been worth it!
