The guy must have been pretty smooth. It can't be easy to sell something for $500 cash at a gas station

He was approached at a gas station in the Hammond area. Said the guy was in a Chevy Silverado with Texas tags. He was a white guy with a heavy southern accent

A few possibilities:
1. Stolen
2. Broken
3. Counterfeit trash

Bad deal.

The same thing happened to me in college back in the 90's, but it was speakers from a "club" that went out of business before they could install them. Junk.

Guy approached me a couple months ago on the Circle K on College + Perkins. Young, energetic, guy gave me the same pitch on TVs in the back of his truck. Just rolled my eyes at him and went along with my day.

Receipt of stolen property is always a fun charge.

It wasn't stolen, it's just a scam. They sell shitty projectors for "90% off" off the overblown MSRP. This used to be huge with home theater and car audio speaker systems.

Notice how on the Lucent website, the fine print at the bottom states: "MSRP is for identification purposes only. MSRP is not representative of public purchase pricing" or something like that.

Man this scam has been around forever... I've been approached by guys in a van several times in several cities at red lights and gas stations. It's always speakers or surround sound or something. Same thing every time. They always have a recipet. And always got shipped an extra one and letting it go for the cheap.....

Thing is, it really isn't the real thing, it's a super el cheapo knock off.

Your buddy got scammed. Chalk it up

Didn't read the thread but hopefully someone has already told you this
