Buddy of mine was approached by a guy at a gas station to buy a $5000 projector

for $500. Guy told him that he installs them for casinos and he recently purchased 10 of these projectors and they mistakenly gave him an extra one and he was trying to help someone out by giving them one hell of a deal. Evidently this is the Ferrari of projectors. It has the most recent cutting edge technology and everything. It also comes with a remote control! The guy was even generous enough to throw in a 72" HD screen with a suggested MSRP of $2000!!!! And let's not forget about the lifetime warranty and free tech support that was also thrown in! How could he not pass up this deal of a lifetime?! The technology and the company are so ground breaking and exclusive that the company website doesn't even have contact information listed. In order to contact them you have to send them a message and anxiously wait for them to contact you back. If that doesn't sell you on this product, the fact that you can only find one to purchase online at Craigslist or Ebay makes this investment a no brainer.

Receipt of stolen property is always a fun charge.

A woman thinks she scored the deal of the decade in a Texas gas station. Now when did that ever happen?

Clearly it was stolen property. Should have given him the Sheriffs number.

This EXACT same thing happened to me yesterday while I was pumping gas, it was 2 dudes in a van and they said they had a leftover one from a job. The pitch was the same, its just like then the vans used to go around selling speakers. This must be the new scam.

Why would anyone purchase electronics offered by a random guy at a gas station? If you simply transfer some money for a Nigerian, you can easily afford to buy all your electronics in a proper store.

My guess is they aren't stolen but POS repackages projectors. The website for the company was created a couple months ago and they webpage has this disclaimer "Model numbers and manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) are for identification purposes only. Manufacturer's suggested retail prices do not represent bona fide selling prices to the public."

Common sense isn't so common. I will now refer to it as "Rare Sense."

My buddy gave this guy $100 for what he assumed to be stolen speakers. The box said they had a MSRP of $2500. Turned out they were not real speakers. Everything look legitimate until we tried to hook it up and discovered the dummy connections. I thought about it too and the box definitely should have been a whole lot bigger if their MSRP was $2500.
