1: Change your subject to something of substance
2: They aren't taking away refunds with no cause, they are recouping the over payments of subsidies to people. I think I had read there are hundred of thousands of people whose income does not match up to what they claimed on the obamacare form in order to gain the subsidy. When those people file their taxes, if their W2's do not match up, they will withhold the money to pay back the subsidy.
Whats wrong with that?

Seeing as to how the IRS is overseeing the program it sounds a little bit like tax wire/mail fraud to me. However, I won't wait around for any arrests to be made.

I think they should withhold the entire return. At least up to the cost of the subsidy. More people that see the effects on their bottom line will realize what a piece of shite this is. As a physician, I have seen a slight increase in revenue due to Obamacare, but I cannot say my income is up and may even be down. My insurance rates for me and my employees (which I pay 100%) are WAY up and due to go MUCH higher. My tax burden is up approx. $60-80k factoring in everything. My overhead is up due to more paperwork and other bullshite involved. Not to mention inflation which seems to be ignored.

You Sir likely share a typical case in point revealing the ugly truth.

Thats what they are doing.... These people said they make X dollars a year on their obamacare application in order to get cheaper, subsidized care. The IRS is going to match up what they claimed on their application to what they file on their tax return. If the tax return amount makes them ineligible for the subsidy they received, they are going to take it out of their tax return.

So, if a person owes money on their tax returns and "miscalculated" their subsidy I assume they will be getting a notice of another payment?

Sounds like it... It will say that they owe for the tax year of whatever that amount is

I'm just pleased to see the IRS has found time to do their job after being so busy screwing the Tea Party.

I'm positioning my self to all cash pay. I foresee single payer in the future. It's inevitable. Eventually we'll end up with a dual system like in the UK. Shitty "free" care paid for with ever higher taxes and inefficient as shite. Then a private side for cash pay and private insurance. It will be far cheaper due to lack of indigent care being forced to give and insurance write offs. But will be inaccessible to those unable to afford it. The people bitching about healthcare are gonna get just what they asked for "free" fricking healthcare delivered by the lowest bidders and most inept. Essentially a VA style system complete with all the bullshite.
Bookmark this...this is what we'll have in 15-20 years. Already headed that way slowly as doc's opt out of gov't insurances like medicare and Medicaid. More bullshite for less pay and sicker, more complicated and more sue happy pt's? No fricking thanks!!!!

Which will be made illegal at some point. As more and more docs do this, you know politicians are going to get involved and say "In order to practice medicine, you HAVE to accept obamacare insurance plans.

Nothing is wrong with it at all, except that it shouldn't have to happen in the first place. The Administration and/or IRS will use this as an excuse to increase funding to the IRS. b'lee-dat.

I have an attorney friend who encourages her clients to pay in cash. Money never sees a bank account. I applaud efforts to keep her money.

Yeah, I am as against Obamacare as anyone, but the blind negativity around anything to do with it is getting old. Everyone should support this move, as it is getting fraudulent subsidies back

Does she give a discount for doing that?

I believe she offers several incentives for them to pay in cash, a discount being one.

There are a whole lot of people who don't grasp the concept of what a tax refund is - they don't realize the government was holding their money interest free. So when their tax refund is cut, they are going to view it as if their entitlement was cut.
