Buying a Glock (Gen4 or nah?)

Pretty positive I'm gonna pull the trigger on a G19. My question is, is the Gen 4 worth the extra $ or would I be better served saving the money and getting an older model? TIA
FWIW I'll be able to get a good deal on either through a buddy that's opening his own shop (worked at Gander Mtn. for years and is branching out).

I have a Gen 3 G23-RTF2 and it fits my hands perfectly. The Gen 4 would be worth the extra money if you need the backstrap adjustability. I think Gen 4 also has reversible mag release.

If I were to own a Glock, gen 3 or 4 wouldnt matter. I would stipple it like my XDM and do a grip reduction so all of the feautures the Gen4 offers wouldnt be necessary.

It all depends on how the Gen3 feels to you. If you want the ability to get a slightly larger or smaller grip then you should get the Gen4. If the Gen3 feels good there's not much use in paying the extra money for the Gen4. *Although keep in mind that the Gen4 guns come with 3 mags whereas the Gen3 only come with 2 mags so you are getting an extra $30 mag with the Gen4.

I think it's worth it. They feel better than the Gen 3's to me.

If I remember correctly - Gen 3 comes with 3 magazines, gen 4 comes w 2.
Or is that the other way around?
Unless you're left handed, save money and get the Gen 3.
The only advantage for a righty would be the size of the mag release button on Gen 4. It's twice as large.

i have a gen 3 G19.
Had to work out an issue with a defective ejector when it was brand new but i've ran over 300 rounds since then with no issues.

See if he can get you a deal with an HK pistol.

Get the Gen 4. Slimmer grip and the grip has a better texture on the Gen 4 compared to the Gen 3. I always found the Gen 3 to get a little slippery when my hand would sweat during shooting in the summer months.

Bought a Gen 4 after shooting a friends gen 3 for a while and I cant be happier. I like the grip better on the 4.

congrats, you're already a step ahead of most. i have a Gen 4, my bro has a gen 3. honestly, i think the gen 3 feels better in the hand, however i like the modularity of the back straps you can add on the Gen 4and it comes with 3 mags instead of 2. the gen 4 has a dual recoil spring that the salesman will try to tell you helps with recoil. it doesn't.
TL;DR : you can't go wrong with either, i have a 1911 too so let the haters hate
ETA: i conceal carry mine errrday so let the haters hate some mo

the answer is completely subjective. you need to hold both the gen 3 and gen 4. if the gen 3 fits your hand fine, there is no need for gen 4. however, the interchangeable backstraps can make a world of difference if the gen 3 grip isn't ideal for you. i do also like the gen 4 texture a lot better.

I'm partial to the gen4... Better grip texture, the mag release is better. I'm left handed and the mag release can be moved for leftys. Also, as someone else said you get a extra mag with the gen4
