LCD vs LED vs plasma for patio use..

Which is best for outdoor viewing? I'm looking to get a 42" for patio, what do you recommend?
I've read a couple places that recommend buying at best buy and getting the extended warranty since is covers moisture damage. Anyone have experience with this?

Carefully read the extended warranty before you buy it. It may cover moisture damage in the home, but being used outside may void the warranty.

buy a cheap LED like the Changhong 40" that is usually found online for $230. Nothing will last long outside so go cheap and replace every couple of years.

I would buy something cheap enough a warranty wouldn't matter.

Lcd or led. No plasma outside. Glare and they don't get that bright. This is the only time lcd wins over plasma.

You forgot about weight, energy use, and the fact that led/lcd has won the entire war since nobody makes plasma anymore.

No. I will make my counter tomorrow with the full force of a keyboard and large screen.

I'm on mobile, too, so I'll be waiting on you tomorrow.
I can't wait to read it.

Is LED brighter than LCD? I haven't bought a tv in 4 years so kinda out of the game

LED is a type of LCD, but yeah LED backlit LCD screens are generally brighter than CCFL LEDs, and allow for blacker blacks too. They are also lighter and run cooler.

That looks like a pretty good idea. I think I'm going to be making a similar purchase soon.

Yep led as big as you want and cheapest you can find it. They also sell covers to help extend there life.

LED for outdoor use. I wouldn't get top of the line though. Spiders and ants crawl in there, make babies and then attack you while you are sleeping. They only like top of the line.

Plasma is not an option...don't even consider it for an outdoors setting.

There are no LED TV's. An "LED TV" is an LCD screen backlit by LEDs. Virtually all LCD's of today are backlit by LED's, so the LED vs. LCD debate is moot.
There is however an OLED TV, but only OT ballers can afford it.

I recently bought an open box 52in samsung led for high $500's. Works a&m's looks great. I bought the extended warranty--even asked if having it outside would void it. The said that it wouldn't.
