Dude, that guy sucked.
He was far more accurate with the ball than our pre-Mett QB. His receivers OTOH looked like they'd be good for 5.0 40 times . . . if they were running with a tail wind.

If he was average we probably would have lost. Well below average.

And everybody says he sucks. McEvoy was terrible on any passes that traveled further than 5-7 yards.

I don't assume. What I saw with my own two eyes, and what his stat line confirms, showed me he sucked.

quote:

He only threw a few times before the half,

If by a few you mean over 50% of his attempts for the game, sure. He was 5/13 in the first half. One of those five was a pass that was deflected at the line and caught by a lineman for a loss of five yards. So I guess if you were going to be a "glass half full" kind of person, at least he really threw for 55 yards, not 50.

McEvoy had two passes the entire game that gained more than 10 yards. And I don't think he completed a throw that was more than 5 yards from the line.

He sucked, plain and simple. He missed a number of open receivers and threw 2 interceptions in the 4th quarter. He was certainly a large part of the comeback. Along with the defense keeping Wisconsin in 3rd and long situations most of the 2nd half.

quote:

Until then he was good though.

You and I clearly have different definitions of "good."

Can you imagine if he was our QB? Half the fan base would have driven off the Mississippi bridge and the other half would be staked out at Miles house just waiting...

He isn't a bad passer

No he is a bad passer. He might have thrown 2 good passes. This does not a QB make. He sucked and on top of that his running was not that special. Wisconsin is in worse shape at QB then we were a few years ago--luckily they play in the B10.

From an objective viewpoint, he was bad.

If you take away the feel good of the comeback, and look at where LSU really is you would be concerned. I think has some huge holes and OL had better get their shite together quick.

Yes I wasn't expecting too much from our DTs and LBs, but damn our OL, TEs, and FB looked like crap. Really they had one good drive in the game. Other than that they made some big plays(Thank you Dural and Diarse). Who would have imagined our average per reception would be @ 25 YPC.

It was obvious all our blockers were totally confused for the far majority of the game.

No matter who we beat there is always an excuse. He was decent in the first half but the 4th quarter was a different story. Our team fought back and won a game that many thought was over at 24-7.

Really?
That seemed weird to me, but then on Tuesday morning, the school sent out an official statement saying Stave and tight end T.J. Watt would "miss time due to injuries."
“Joel has been dealing with some issues with his throwing shoulder for the last couple of weeks and we have come to a decision, after talking with Joel, that the best thing for him right now is to shut it down and give him some rest," Andersen said in the statement. "It was a tough decision because Joel is a great competitor and has a tremendous desire to help this team. We will continue to monitor his progress but we’re not putting a timetable on his return at this time.”

Case closed, right? Not so fast.

Reporters attending the end of practice on Tuesday night found out Stave wasn't hurt. Andersen backtracked from the statement put out just a few hours earlier (Listen to audio from Andersen and Stave here).
"He has not re-injured anything," Andersen said. "When he gets himself to the point where he's ready to play, he'll be ready to play. 'Injured' is probably a bad word, I guess, of choice by me that I decided to use in the press release."
