If you don't tip bartenders and waiters they make $2/hr.
Technically, I think the employer has to pay them minimum wage if their tips aren't sufficient to get them to minimum wage.

It's ridiculous. I hate when businesses where you get your product at the register has a tip jar. I got so aggravated at one today that I slapped the plastic jug on the floor. Like you deserve a tip for ringing me up.

Not true, but I see the point you're trying to make

Yea, the point is that tipping is built into their wages.

I'll leave a tip tomorrow, didn't realize I was bring cheap. I knew what she wanted, but I didn't know it was something I needed to do. I'd be 100% fine if they left the room alone. I'm no slob, and I'd be fine with the soap/shampoo/towels provided for my whole stay.

I usually leave $2-$5 per day I stay.

Unless I didn't get service a lot.

Wait, you have to tip cleaning crew now? This is out of control

Is this a new thing? Tipping maids at a hotel? I've actually never done it or even thought of doing it.

This. Granted I usually leave the do not disturb sign up because I hate the thought of someone being in with my shite.

Actually, you know what, I did tip the cleaning lady in Vegas. I had alcohol and coke all over my Suite at the MGM. I gave her $20 not to report anything she saw in the room.

There was literally a small pile of coke on one of the tables. She cleaned around it.

I'm also willing to bet most people here don't spend 3-4 nights a week in a hotel.

If everyone of our employee's expenses $3 maid tip per night that's another $20,000 gone a year.

I am in a hotel at least 12 nights a month and don't include my tip on expense report....but may start.

I left $10 for a 3 night stay at a moderate hotel near the compound. And I felt I was more then generous

Before that I'd only tip a little if any. I'm not tipping shite at a condo stay when u are already getting hit pretty good with a cleaning fee

Makes sense. I really wish somebody would clear up Sonic though. I'm tired of not making eye contact with them.

True Story:

Many years ago.... My Aunt, Uncle and Cousins went on vacation in Orlando for a week.

When they got back home after the vacation they went and got all of their photos developed (Yes, this was way before Digital cameras and phones)

When they opened up the pack of pictures there were multiple pics of fat people bending over with all of their tooth brushes inserted in their butt holes.

The crazy thing about it was that they called the hotel and sent copies of the pics to the management and the management said that there were no such employees that worked there with that description. Well no shite dumbass, of course the management would not know what someones butt hole with a toothbrush inserted into it would look like.

Needless to say, nothing ever happened but if that was me and my family that experienced this, I would sue the living dog shite out of that hotel...

I don't tip the staff unless they have a lot of work to do. I actually keep my room extremely clean and half the time I only need towels and no service. I don't understand people that feel the need to get service every day if they don't need to.

I think our long trips were the only time I've ever tipped maids as well. One or two night stays, I am very clean and I'm pretty psycho about cleaning the room before I leave. Everyone makes fun of me for it.

I have no issue doing it if I think about it, but honestly, it's just not something that crosses my mind much.

I check into a hotel and immediately put up the "do not disturb" because generally, I won't be needing new sheets or towels. I haven't stayed anywhere long enough for that in a long time and I don't want housekeeping waking me up from my hangover-induced sleeping late the next day.
