You serious, Clark? Because every time minimum wage has been increased, it has never stopped the bitching that caused it. It's always more more more. If you gave them $20 an hour there would still be people bitching it's not enough.

That's cute but some Spanish speaking single mother ain't exactly here to work white collar.

Complain to the management, they'll let you know tipping is appreciated, not expected. Yet many now have tipping cards in the room with the lady's name on it.

Why they cannot factor the price of a decent wage into the housekeeping is a mystery. There is no on-demand service being provided.

How much do you think they need to be paid to make them stop wanting more?

Increase minimum wage --> companies charge more for their service or products --> consumers have more money to spend on the now more expensive service or products = a simple dilution of the value of the dollar. The end game is exactly the same.

how does that even figure into tipping someone who isn't supposed to be tipped?

You tip the car salesman when he sells you your car?
How about the clerk at the circle k?

Yes. What is so funny about a kind gesture towards someone in a worse position than me that is providing an appreciated service?

very similar to our subsidizing of Walmart employees(because the majority of them qualify for some type of gov't assistance,) as long as we keep paying their wages, their employers won't have to up the ante

This is not a new practice. I imagine most people don't.

Our company won't reimburse cash tips for maid service.

Only time I'll tip are hotels/resorts that provide twice daily cleaning/turndown service.

The maid is providing a service. The car salesman and clerk are providing goods.

Why would you tip a bartender at a bar where you paid a cover to grab a beer and take the top off?

How did you determine this? Your own practice? Custom? Seems enough people here do it that it isn't some completely foreign or outrageous idea.
