That's what is so impressive about this to me.....it's one of many huge projects going on in SoLa that will have a positive impact the state for decades.

I thought we were doing well up here with manufacturing expansion in my state with Mitsubishi Electric, Electrolux, and VW. It's a drop in the bucket compared to what Louisiana has coming. Impressive.

SW Louisiana and the whole area between Baton Rouge and New Orleans along the river are going to see a lot more expansion in the future too.

And this is after Shell bailed on a massive such facility in Ascension Parish near the Sunshine Bridge.

They scrapped that plan because of uncertainty in future prices of oil and LNG and the massive cost of construction for that project.

Doesn't really matter though...Ascension has a number of other major projects underway and close to completion, such as CF Industries expanding their fertilizer plant to the tune of $2.1B and Methanex’s $1B methanol complex, which should be up and running by the end of '14. Again, great time to be in construction in SoLa

This. Exporting natural gas is not a great move economic wise unless you have a locked in market with no other natural gas options. The only industrialized country this fits is Japan (and maybe Korea).

Exported US LNG will never compete with Russian natural gas in Europe. No matter how pissed the Euro's get at Putin, they aren't going to double their gas costs for extended periods of time.

The export/import process adds somewhere in the $1.50-3.50 (this swings depending on many variables) to each 1000 scf of natural gas.

Not saying Jindal is responsible for this boom, but whoever comes in after him will be inheriting a great economic situation

CB&I may go belly up before it's finished, though. Odds are Turner will have to take over the project at some point to finish it.

They've lost their arse on several huge lump sum projects due to shoddy work leading to remedial work. They're stretched thin with their engineering and PM staff for the number and magnitude of the projects they have and they've been balancing their financial books with "goodwill" from the purchase of the Shaw Group, never mind that the "goodwill" is quantified on their balance sheet to exceed their purchase price for that company.

If they don't start hitting some home runs on some of these huge projects, that company may be in come serious trouble.

Cameron still doesn't have FERC approval but I believe they are next in line.

There is also Lake Charles Liquefaction (BG Group & Energy Transfer), still in application process
