Made reservations to dine at Dickie Brennans for the first time. Laboca is my go to steakhouse and its hard to imagine anything better, but I decided to venture out this weekend. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

It's okay. Not great, imo.

NY Strip and that tobasco oyster salad and I'm golden. Enjoy. Last time I had a prime rib at lunch. Really nice. I like the strip though.

Chophouse and Mr. John's are better IMO.

If it's not too late, check out Doris Metropolis.
Think it's best in breed.

Tried Doris.Could get a reservation. ok. would anyone say that Dickie Brennans is better than Charlies steakhouse or am i comparing apples and oranges? Charlies is not fine dining, but very solid IMO.

Yes. But I don't like Charlies much. Haven't been since the new owners, though.

BR. Did you finish that 22oz bad boy? I usually get the bone in filet. I think its 16oz

Didnt realize charlies had new owners. Have never had a bad experience there. Checking chophouse now.Really want a good experience. My girlfriend graduated and finally starts working.

I like Chophouse, but it's pricey. Most of these steakhouses will be though.

I'm usually not an advocate of ordering filet in a restaurant, but the house filet is excellent with creamed spinach, fried oysters, pontabla potatoes and béarnaise sauce. The turtle soup is no slouch either.

As you already know, there are better steakhouses in the city, but that doesn't mean you won't enjoy yourself or your meal while at Dickie's.
Never had a bad meal at Dickie's and I enjoy the sauces that can accompany the steaks along with the loud atmosphere.

Does it have to be a steakhouse? If you want a really special meal. There are plenty better spots than a steakhouse. However I realize steakhouse is synonymous with celebrating.
Little known fact, I think, you often will get a better steak in a restaurant that doesn't specialize in steak

Last time I went was a year ago and it was a disappointment. The ribeye was not a great cut of meat and it was overcooked. Medium rare and cooked medium well. And no I didn't send it back, a big group of guys drinking and having a good time. I'd be willing to give it another shot though based on reputation.

GW Fins has great steaks. I think the chef was formerly at Ruth's

ditto on great steak at GW. IMHO, it's one of the top seafood places in NOLA though.

Yeah I'm not big on going to Steakhouses with my wife. I would rather go somewhere with diverse offerings, I can cook a steak at home.
If its with a bunch of dudes, sure, because guys can be little bitches about food.
