This is terrible news but I'm not shocked this happened. I use Bluff frequently and people drive like arse holes down that road. I'll have people ride me when I'm going the speed limit and even pass me up with a double line. I can recall ever seeing a cop out there either.

Dammit. Pretty sure I knew the dad from school. Beautiful kids.

I hope that the results of the investigation are made public.
I am suspicious of the vehicle operator texting while driving.

Is driver's Instagram handle kaynat?

Fishing that close to a road with 55 mph speed limit is not safe. Sorry

I would love to know what about this makes you not only "suspicious" but to also have limited it down to "texting while driving." Don't come in here and post dumb shite like that.

Apparently you've never driven down La 1 towards Grand Isle.

Yet the fam will be filing suit against driver and state.

No shite. Was your condescending post really necessary after the thread is 7 pages long?

This weekend all over the state adults (with kids) will continue to fish too close to roadways.

First thing I thought as well. Too many people texting, Facebook, td, while driving. Makes me sick. What makes someone think this could have been the cause? Because the damn car went off the road. Most people who are not distracted or drunk can manage to keep a car between the lines on the road. No matter what the cause, this is an absolute tragedy. I feel so sorry for the family.

I don't need to rebut your stupid post because the other guy already did.
This traffic case needs to be investigated to determine whether the vehicle operator was on her smartphone at the time of the accident.
It's a suspicious set of circumstances. That's obvious.

As a fellow AP resident, this shite is too close to home for me, too fricking close.

Hindsight it's easy to say shouldn't have had the kids out there fishing. No one can imagine something like this happening to them though. You wouldn't even contemplate it, and it shouldn't ever happen. So sad for those involved

Well it's a traffic incident involving multiple deaths so I would imagine it will be looked into. I'm still failing to understand why you are so set on the reason being a smart phone?

Again, what is suspicious about this? It's a road with no shoulder, a sharp curve, and a high speed limit. I don't get how anyone that drives regularly could immediately interpret this as "suspicious" instead of another unobservant person behind the wheel.

You overestimate the average southern driver. If I was in the right position, I would update drivers license tests' to at least 3x as the current

Bluff Road is one of many (mostly) horrible roads in Ascension Parish. It has no shoulder, which appears to be a matter of pride in Ascension. The speed limit is way too high, and drivers routinely exceed it. The amount of deadly accidents in that parish are a disgrace.
People complain about Federal Government waste, but what the heck do these parishes do with all of their money from the huge population influx; a new subdivision is carved out every month.
