If i see somebody texting and driving on the interstate i reach down for my phone and scroll until i find the camera the zoom in and snap a pic. Then i text it immediately to the cops. I will not stand for this crap.

It was my dear friend who pulled these children out of the water. I was just with him last night. He and the woman driving the suv worked HARD to save those children. Him being a paramedic of 25+ years, and her being a nurse did EVERYTHING they could to save them. Also, an ER Dr., and a highly trained dentist were on scene before first responders arrived. My friend witnessed the ACCIDENT, and told the troopers on scene the woman did NOTHING wrong. There was NOTHING she could do to prevent this tragedy. Everything that could be done, was done! It had JUST began to rain, and she hydro planed in a very sharp curve. She was not intoxicated, nor had she been texting, according to my friend whom was directly behind her. Her ONLY reaction was to save those babies. My prayers go out to EVERYONE involved.

Regardless, you have nothing other than a shot in the dark to be "suspicious" of texting and driving causing this accident. It is just as likely that the girl sneezed at an inopportune time. Better check the dash for snot, amirite?
I'm getting the impression that you text and use your smartphone a whole lot while driving.

I'm getting the impression you make a lot of baseless assumptions.
ETA: And instead of you trying to flip the discussion to me, I'd really love to hear your rebuttal to everything I've said.

The FB post may be completely true.
A thorough investigation may just match up well with that post. That's why it's important for either the police or an attorney to investigate.
If the FB post is true, the motor vehicle operator will benefit greatly from a complete investigation.

I sure hate when something terrible like this happens and the situation is exacerbated by charging the driver for something that could happen to anyone. Many roads in the AP have zero margin for error. And lets be honest, it doesn't take texting or a smart phone to drift 2 feet left or right at 55mph.
Bluff is in dire need of a 3-4 ft shoulder with rumble strips in median and on shoulders, even if just from Alligator bayou to C Braud.

I think this is likely a terrible accident.

Looky there. We agree on something. See above.

Yep. It's just sad. They need to put a guard rail in or lower the speed limit or both
Posted on 6/25/14 at 10:41 am to Tiger Ryno
If, and this is an if, the above statement concerning the driver is true, the accident may be caused in part by a defect in the road or drainage.
Many of these roads are substandard for the speed limits posted.

This is horrible. As a former EMT I feel for everyone involved here, not to take anything away from the family of the children that were killed but the others, especially the driver will never be the same. .... I know from experience.

I have never been down that road but it doesn't sound like an ideal place to be fishing...I know I will never fish 10 ft from vehicles traveling that fast.

The road is pristine for potholes except a GIfrickINGNORMOUS one south of C Braud that will break your shite.
But yea people go 55-65 down it safely. It's just got no room for a glance at Christmas Lights or a deer in the woods. It demands 100% focus to not drift.
