Skyler Green is up there for me
That slip screen he scored on vs Arkansas in 2002 was the most ridiculous burst I think I've ever seen from a FB player.

Also we have to throw out Billy Cannon.
Anyone saw BC play?
I'm sure most of you realize that punt return against OM is slowed down.
Wasn't there a thread about BC about a week ago?
Let me add, not the fastest, but maybe top 5 at his pos.

Damn right. NFL see you later fast.

Kevin Franklin was fast as hell and was on the 4*100 with Kennison etc. that placed in top 3 at NCAA's

peterson would not beat trindon in a race with or without pads.
would be closer than you think. Peterson's acceleration was better. And he is bigger, stronger. It's feasible he could be just as fast in pads.

Agree with Lester on this one. I have watched kids who are faster on a track slow down when the pads get added, the bigger and stronger kid in pads tends to play faster on the gridiron.

You never know, what if the guy who ran him down in the quad was an all-american sprinter or something.

no it's not. holliday accelerates as fast as about anyone in the world. if you watch his races, he always came out of the blocks faster than anyone but wasn't able to be an even faster sprinter because of how short his strides are. yes, peterson is a freak of nature. it's almost unnatural for someone as big as he is to move like he does, but he is, in now way, as fast as trindon holliday

i have watched trindon holliday look like he is jogging and gain separation from guys chasing him, who are not slow.

People can name whomever they want.
The correct answer is still Trindon Holliday.

Fastest 240 lb guy? Jeremy Hill, never saw that guy get caught from behind, I don't care who was in the secondary.

Agreed - when he chased down the AU guy after the Perrilloux fumble in '07 was the fastest any LSU football player has ever run on a football field, IMHO.

I don't think it is even debatable that Trindon was the fastest LSU player ever on a football field, his times in the 40, 60 & 100 are all well documented and weren't handheld. And it is very seldom that anyone needs a burst longer than 60 yards in a game. When Trindon hit a hole on kick returns he was gone, still doing it in the NFL!
Damn shame he has trouble handling punts, he would get a lot more opportunities.
Carter was damn fast but was actually a better 200 meter runner.

It is funny how fast people forget things. Holliday was absurdly fast on the field and, like someone said, would be just cruising when people are chasing him and he still leaves them.
He also had a really fast top end despite his small stature due to his elite stride turnover, not to mention he could change directions so fast. His only issue (besides size, if course) was his tendency to go full speed all the time and not vary it. He has since learned that and it is paying off in the NFL.

Ray Tatum 1983 blazing fast and didn't last

Peterson
10yd split: 1.49
20yd split: 2.44
broad jump: 10'06"
20yd shuttle: 4.07
Trindon
10yd split: 1.50
20yd split: 2.47
broad jump: 9'8"
20 yard shuttle: 4.48
these are taken from the NFL combine. All show explosiveness & acceleration. There wasn't one measure Holliday was better in, besides running the full 40 yard dash. His 4.21 to Peterson's 4.31
Yes, Peterson is a freak. His acceleration showed at LSU, which is why I even made that comment to begin with. He's the fastest guy ive seen in pads, mainly because his first few steps leaves people in the dust.

100m isn't 40 yards, its much longer. You're talking about 70 more yards, roughly.
I guarantee you he isn't losing speed between 20-40yards. Cause looking at the times above, that is clearly where he makes his mark on Peterson. Cause Peterson has him in the first 20.
Being a much bigger man, that isn't very shocking. But it could also work for him, and against Trindon if we are talking about guys moving in football pads. Which was what my original statement was.
