why not just go to the theaters that don't serve alcohol?

How many beers do you think someone could drink in a 2 hour movie? Assuming they're sipping pretty constantly I'd say no more than 4 - and that's assuming they're leaving the theater during the middle of the flick to wait in the beer line again (unlikely). I've seen shows at Canal Place and only had two drinks and they have waiters.

Exactly.....since many of these theaters have both.
One of the ones we go to....it's only certain theaters there that offer the alcohol service with a server bringing you food and drink. Other theaters there are typical ones.

Why do you gay guys always think man-to-man thoughts. When I went to the movies on a regular basis it was always boys-to-girls.
Whatever floats your boat.

well also, the theaters that serve alcohol are going to cost more, and you're not going to get many rednecks or gangsters

The noly time I've been in theaters with drunk assholes was for RHPS or The Room showings, where being drunk assholes is encouraged.

If this theater is in Louisiana who else is going to be in there with me?

I was referring to mini-liquor bottles - commonly known as "airplane bottles" - which cannot be sold in Louisiana for some stupid reason. "The kids will think they're cute and drink from them", probably.
Is that true? That's BS if so.

Exactly. Plus you can reserve your seats in advance online. Great for when a big movie is released. No waiting in long lines either. No annoying teenagers. Just a pleasant movie experience.

What the frick does having a beer in his hand prevent him from doing that?

Yeah, because 15 year olds who won't shut the frick up, text, and actually answer phone calls in the theater are way better than a guy who just wants to watch a movie with a beer and a meal in front of him in peace.

I am against alcohol sales at the movies.
I am not a religious nut. I don't drink, but it's not because of Jesus. I don't care if my friends drink. I think local ordinances against alcohol sales on Sunday are stupid. If I throw a party, there will be alcohol there for my friends who drink.
The reason I am against alcohol sales at the movies is because I don't see the sale of beer or other alcohol actually improving the movie-going experience for everyone. Sure, it might improve the experience for those who cannot seem to have any fun without alcohol, but for the rest of the people in the audience, it would probably be to their detriment.
See, you can't compare the movie-going experience to a stadium or a bowling alley. It's different. You pay a price to go into a big, dark room to watch something with about a hundred or so others, and you are stuck there for the length of the movie. You can't get up and walk away. There's no gate marshals watching the crowd. It's (supposed to be) quiet. In fact, your quietness is actually required so that others can enjoy the movie. That's why they ask you to turn off your cell phones.
Now, let me ask all of you something. The last time you heard someone talking in the movie theater behind you... just being a total arse... what happened? Did you just sit and bear it? Did you stand up and politely ask that citizen to keep it quiet so you could enjoy the movie? If so, what was his or her reaction? I'm betting one of you... or both or you... had to get a little rude. Do you really think alcohol would improve a situation like that? YOU may not get drunk at the movie theater, so YOU might be able to handle it. But what about the other guy? Do you trust him to not get hammered and act like an arse at the movies? On a Friday night, with a whole lot of people JUST like him also populating your theater?
Nearly every one of us movie fans has not one, but several stories of incidents at the movie theater where someone was acting like an arse the whole fricking time. Don't even try to dispute that.
The truth is, people really do need to have places to go and things to do without alcohol being involved. Not just young people. All people. Alcohol has its time and place, and it's time is not every time and it's place is not every place.
If you support alcohol in movie theaters, genuinely ask yourself why you do. If the answer is because you don't think alcohol should be sold one place but not another, then by all means, support its sale everywhere. And I mean everywhere. But if it's always been some sort of dream of yours to sit at the movies and enjoy a cold beer... as if the movies were not entertaining enough already... then I submit that there may be something wrong with you. I'm serious. Ninety minutes to three hours without booze. That's what this bill is asking of you. Can't do it? Don't want to do it? Would prefer not to have to do it? That sounds pretty weak.

Seriously? You need to lighten up.
Have you ever even been to one of these theaters?
I have....about 8 different ones around here dozens of movies.
Never have I seen customers get loud and drunk.
Actually.....each time is quieter than a normal theater. No screaming baby or teenager chatting on their phone or trashy person being loud.

The Palace here has a full bar, you can get a crown and coke or a cocktail.
Or a frozen drink. Really nice. They only serve liquor at shows after 7.
It's NOLA though, I was at a dance recital for little kids at the Convention Center on the river Saturday and they had three bars set up. Most of the crowd was kids. But thank the lord for the bars, because I was there from 10am to 10pm and wouldn't have made it without my blended Canadian friend.

then don't go to the theaters that serve alcohol. don't fricking push to ban it outright

again, ignoring the fact that just b/c it is legal doesn't mean you'd be mandated to participate, with the increased expense comes a dramatically decreased chance that you run into trash who would cause these issues

you miss teh point
i'm the biggest "people invent reasons to drink" guy out there (for example, tailgating is fricking stupid). however, that isn't really what is going on in these places. they offer dinner and drinks. it's not just a bar. it's a nice change of pace
