really? i have 2 daughters and both of them loved the experience of going to the mall with their friends and all getting this done together.

like a rite of passage.

You may not even get the choice, also how old is your wife? Aren't ya'll getting up there in the unsafe to have one category? Might want to do it soon.

They most likely would of been fine having it done earlier as well.

for a supposed grown adult male, you are more dramatic than my 16 year old niece

why? because i upset the apple cart of chopped up OT posters by making them re-examine what happened to them?

hey, i'm circumcised too. and it makes my blood boil after i read up on this and realized it had more to do with VOODOO than any reasonable medical explanation.

you should be mad too instead of lashing out at me.

you've clearly missed the photos

she is 30. i'm 48.

eta and she's preggers. we find out the sex today actually so this is a timely thread. she's already on board with the decision to not mutilate if its a boy.

why should I be upset? my penis functions perfectly fine

I don't have a son, so I haven't had to make this decision yet

I knew you were up there, didn't know your wife was that young. Still, I wouldn't want to be in the boat where I should be in a nursing home when my kid gets in college.

Because we all are scarred for life because we remember being born and circumcised, right?

Nice, we found out a month or two ago at 12 weeks by some new fancy genetic testing we had done. Due in October. We had this discussion before we found out based on an older TD thread. I pretty much told her I would let her decide cause I didn't care either way. She was uncertain what she wanted to do when we found out it was a girl, so we won't have to make this choice unless our plan falls apart. We only want one child.

Well I'm not going to be a dumbass and let some small clinic perform such a delicate procedure. The parents were trying the cheapest option and this is what happens. If you don't want this kind of shite to happen then make it a requirement to have a license to perform this type of procedure. Not "OMG BAN IT! BAN IT FOREVER!!!"

Sounds like what happens to millions upon millions of babies who are born every day and nothing bad ever happens to them.

serious question here:

if you're so sure this is no big deal, then when your son is born, ask the doctor if you can be in the room and observe the circumcision for yourself.

i mean you're in the room during the birth right?

i bet alot of you would change your mind if you were forced to watch your baby boy undergo this harmless procedure.

a good friend of mine who lives here has a wife who is an OBGYN.

after endless discussions on this subject between he and I (I was pro-circumcising originally) he decided to NOT circumcise his son.

i can tell you..the peer pressure was ENORMOUS on him and his wife (medical colleagues) to do the circumcision.

the amount of eye-rolling going on and the "are you sure" comments he kept getting from nurses and staff during the delivery served to piss him off more than anything.

ask yourself why that is.

I do not wish to quarrel with you people about foreskin.

Something is odd about this story. The Dr. was a pediatrician. And was never charged with any type of medical misconduct.

About as frequent as vaccines gone wrong, right Jenny McCarthy?

I hope nobody allows a guy who can't even use amazon to tell them what to do with their sons penis.

What about a cleft pallette? Fixing that it usually cosmetic, as it's not life threatening. Mutilation to correct?

Threads like this make me wish the doctor would keep the foreskin and toss the baby more often.
