Well if they are able to flip Gordon for Monroe, it shouldn't be difficult to move Anderson for a 3. The question is who do you target? Jeff Green? Wilson Chandler?

While all of this talk of the potential offense with Monroe and a 3&D wing gets me excited, I think and remember that Monty is still our coach and I lose a lot of that excitement.
He'd probably play Monroe 20 minutes a game and find a way to pick Stiemsma back up and play him.

Depends who is available.
Denver fans are disenchanted with Chandler but they desperately want a 2 to replace Randy Foye rather than a 4.
The Clip Show is apparently offering Jared Dudley for salary relief. We could probably grab him with some remaining room or sending out one of our non-guaranteed contracts.
I don't see Jeff Green being a good fit for us considering we need long-distance shooting and that is not exactly his forte. I'm guessing that him and Evans in the same lineup will be a problem.
We could pick up Luol Deng as a FA if he was willing to take the MLE.

In the last two years Green has shot around 36% from 3 on four attempts per game. Not bad. But it would be bad form to trade Ryno to Boston after his injury.

Well, if no one is going to offer a ham sammich, I suppose Monroe would work.

Lots of AD(42) and Monroe (62) in those highlights. I didn't see anything jump out about the pairing other than Monroe created a lot of fast breaks that AD ended up finishing. But it was just one game.

As much as I'd love to have Monroe, I think sending Gordon to Detroit, Monroe to Houston and Asik to New Orleans makes the most sense for our team, and for everybody else to a certain extent.
Not sure if the money matches up. But that makes a lot of sense. I hate helping out Houston, but I think Asik is more valuable to us than Monroe.
Like someone said, it's more of getting rid of Gordon for a young guy with a pulse.

I don't think melo would want to be a 3rd wheel in HOU
Melo would never be third wheel anywhere. I could actually see him physically taking the ball away from Harden, pushing him away, waving Dwight to clear the lane, driving to the basket and then pulling up to take a 10 foot jumper.

As far as Monroe and the team defense, The Bird Writes has a nice article up on the defense, and the most interesting part of the article to me was the flashback to Monty year 1 defense.

There's no reason Davis couldn't play the Okafor role and Monroe be a slow rotating David West. The team would still need to pick up a good 3 an D SF though.

At its most simple form, Monty's defense could be characterized thusly- (1) lock Chris Paul, Trevor Ariza, and Emeka Okafor man-to-man on the opposition's primary ball handler, primary perimeter scorer, and primary big (2) everybody be ready to rotate. Even without watching a single game or defensive sequence, this sounds like a radical idea. If defensive positions fall away (as "everybody rotate" implies they must), mismatches are inherently implied. Monty's defensive philosophy was to keep rotations so crisp and frequent that in the event of a mismatch, help could swing over before significant damage was done.
The defensive system really resembled an amoeba- constant flow, fully interchangeable parts. It's why we saw David West and Jason Smith often patrolling the top of the key or Willie Green or Quincy Pondexter under the hoop. The key was for these things to happen quickly, for those occasional mismatches to be only a quick slide over away from turning into a thunderous Emeka Okafor block. The Hornets probably played less than half of their total defensive possessions in this full amoeba style, but the concept of constant flow permeated even their stricter man-to-man possessions. Such a free flowing system requires that the anchor points- Paul, Ariza, and Okafor- be extremely strong, but Monty Williams was brilliant to design the system around them, covering for the individual defensive weaknesses of his other players.

"Good" is up for debate, but the Clip Show is trying to dump Jared Dudley since he didn't fit well there.

If they get Monroe, they need to move Anderson for wing help. I don't think he and Monroe can work defensively. And Anderson/Davis/Monroe is not sustainable. Playing Davis or Anderson at the 3 is just silly.
Anderson would still be coming off the bench and playing with only 1 of those guys, not both of them.
End of game situations would have Anderson and Monroe swapping out offense and defense. Monroe isn't a good foul shooter, around 66%.

If Anderson is playing closer to 20 MPG, that is a waste of money. If he's getting ~30mpg, it's a tall order to have him and Monroe together for 15mpg.
And you're seriously betting on Monty to make swift and smart in game substitutions? That just isn't in his coaching bag of tricks, at this point at least.

That's without anyone else playing any minutes at 4 or 5. Would be tough to pull off. People would be pissed at Monty.
ETA - I think Monroe could work both with Anderson and Davis. All three pairings seem to have solid strengths.

Gordon for Monroe str8 up is not good enough.. put stuckey in the pot and it's a deal.

We'd be lucky to land Monroe for Gordon. To be able to land a guy like Monrow who you could:
A: re-sign and add to the core.
B: flip for cap space or assets.
That's a lot more flexibility than what Gordon gives you.
Btw: Stuckey is a free agent. And it would be pointless to add a guy like him to a roster already full of ball dominant guards.

Roberts and Tyreke are the only ones that really fit that definition
Jrue/EG do fine off ball because they're very good outside shooters
Rivers was top 10 in catch and shoot percentage.
But yeah we don't need stuckey

Offensively, absolutely. Defensively, even Anderson/Davis is a pair with a dodgy future; two slow, below the rim bigs like Monroe/Anderson even more so. They could work, but the roster and the scheme would need some retooling

Honestly, I really believe a talented, versatile 3 should be our primary goal. I mean, I wouldn't turn down a good deal involving a 5/4, but I think a SF that is a legit scorer (even our no. 3 option) and can provide lock down D is the thing that we need. I'm banking on development from Withey and, yes Anjinca, plus one more big, dependable body (solid player, no superstar) for rebounding and defense.
