Buick Enclave vs. Chevy Tahoe

Wife is up for a new ride and is showing interest in the Buick Enclave and the Tahoe but has some concerns.
She currently drives an '05 Z71 Tahoe, and loves the cargo space, the height that it sits but does not like how it guzzles gas.
I do not care for the new-gen Tahoes, so I would be looking at '12 and '13 models if it came into play.
She is leaning more towards the Enclave, but is wondering about the cargo space and mainly if it "drives like a car", since it is classified as a crossover (low sweeping windshield, low dash, etc). Her job requires quite a bit of city driving, so the v-6 in the Enclave is pretty enticing.
Just looking for first hand reviews before I have to get out and play dodge the salesman....

The new enclaves are pretty damn sweet if its for your wife to drive only. If I were gonna be driving it once in a while, Id get the tahoe.
The enclave defnitely has a smoother and quieter ride than the tahoe. My wife has test drove a couple when shopping, ended up with a highlander.

Tahoe > Enclave
The Enclave drives like crap. Our Tahoe drives like a cadillac on I-10. Next one might be an Expidition for us though...

My wife had an enclave as a loaner while her work vehicle was in the shop. I must say I was pleasantly suprised when I drove it. It was optioned out and just as luxury, comfortable and smooth as other higher end SUV or crossovers I have driven. Much easier to park than something like a Tahoe. As a male I wouldn't want to drive it every day just because it is a bit more femanine, but would not mind at all driving it on occassion. Great vehicle all around in my opinion.

I love my Tahoe, but I wouldn't have gone with it if I drove a lot. Gas mileage is the big suck.

Have y'all checked out the Honda Pilot?

Enclave will get a little better mileage, ride well, and drive like a car. The Tahoe Z71 will tow more, and can go much farther off road with higher clearance, locking diffs, and skid plates.
Both seem to be well built and have comfortable interiors, but the Enclave will have more passenger space in the third row. The trade off is a lower ride, less towing and off road capability, and a smaller engine.
Buicks in general seem to feel like a vault on wheels. They are somehow quieter than most cars....which is a huge bonus if you drive long distances.

One of the absolute quietest and smoothest rides I've ever ridden was a few weeks ago in a buddy of mines Navigator. I thought it would ride just like an Expedition, but it wasn't even close. They must pack those things with insulation.

Wife test drove both and said she liked the Tahoe because it was more like driving a truck than car

It sounds like the Enclave would fit your needs the best. The new Buicks are nice.

The Enclave is best in class, by far.
Between those two, especially a 12 or 13 Tahoe, the Enclave is the better choice.
The Pilot has a poor offset crash rating. I wouldn't consider it.

Just rented one for a week. At first, I was like, "Hey, this is not bad at all." I was considering it as a potential purpose.
Then after a week, I decided, "Nope. Too sluggish. Too muddy on respnsiveness. Can't feel the road. Back-end has too much harshness."
I recommend Lexus RX350.

Ford Edge or Explorer is what you want here.
I can also confirm the cup holders are big enought for your 44oz polar pop.

I have a Tahoe and it's the best vehicle for me at the moment. That being said, I've been in the Enclaves/Acadia and I like them. They have almost the same amount of room as the Tahoe. I think the only difference is the shoulder room in the third row. There is no room in my Tahoe when the third row is up either. I really liked the way the middle row seats in the Enclave were adjustable and I like the height. No use to sit as high as a truck if it's not a truck. One drawback is I've heard terrible reliablity reviews on the Acadia in the past. I don't know if that's been corrected in the newer models, or if that crossed over to the Buicks. Just something to look at when buying.

try looking at the Infiniti QX60. We went with the 80 over the Tahoe but the 60 is sweet.
