An inquiry on the subject of Dr. Ben Carson

What is the thought on Dr. Carson as a person AND a politician?
I am wondering how both Democrats and Republicans feel about him and his chances at the White House, as well as overall electability and likeability?
Basically, do you like him and think he can make a serious political run? If you don't mind, identify yourself with whatever party you please.
Primarily being of Libertarian belief, I like Dr. Carson. I think he is one of the first genuinely intelligent and compassionate men, regardless of political view, that has come around in a long while. I don't agree with everything he stands for as far as politics, but after our recent string of useless presidents, I can go for ANYONE who is genuinely a person who cares about doing the right things

He makes too much dang sense to be elected. Great story, great American. Don't know if he's evil enough to win an election, but I'd vote for him.

I like him, but he's unelectable.

He seems genuine, he doesn't appear to have skeletons in his closet, and his comments make too much damn sense. I have no doubt that the media will try to crucify him based on the fact that he's conservative. If the electorate actually thought about what makes sense, what's best for the long term, and what's actually constitutional, they'd vote for him.
Carson wants to ween the public off the government tit, and because of that, they'll never vote for him.
For the record, I voted against Obama in the last two presidential elections, and voted Ron Paul in primary.

What makes you believe he is unelectable?
Btw... I am not here to argue or anything, just trying to get a grip on how both sides view him.

He's too outspoken about social issues, openly rebukes the narrative of the typical black American and and actually speaks his mind.
The media will portray him as a religious nut and an Uncle Tom and that will be that.

Pretty much nailed it. I would vote for him in second if he ran. I just don't think he wants to deal with all of that bullshite.

Our system keeps the best from ever running.
I don't even agree with some of his social stances and I'd vote for him without thinking twice.

And there lies a major problem. Decent, smart people (of which our country has many) ... simply would never want to put up with the BS of running for office and being in office.
So ... we get the turds.
Think about this: Harry Reid is a powerful, United States Senator.
It's depressing.

I kind of wish more conservatives would shut the hell up about these issues.

I would want him to get some experience first.

quote:I disagree. The difference between the two in terms of electability is that Obama had the media carrying water for him from day one. Carson would have the media attacking him from day one. They would twist, belittle, and obfuscate everything he says until they succeeded in making him look like a dangerous right wing extremist.
I don't believe that. If Obama can get elected Carson can too.

Plus Carson may not have as good a jump shot or be able to sing Al Green.

Sorry, but it really gets to be annoying when conservatives blame everything on the media rather than accepting the possibility that a lot of people may not agree with them on a particular candidate or issue. Seriously, do some of you guys think you're the only ones capable of discerning fact from fiction?
I don't really know much about Carson. Seems like a genuine guy. Doubt he'll ever sniff the presidency.

No way he goes straight from the private sector to the presidency. If he wants to get into politics he needs to run for the House or get into state politics first.

Brilliant surgeon, a bit of a loose cannon. Like a lot of brilliant people, he's not immune to having a few screwy ideas.

Seems genuine and sincere in his opinions.

If he wouldn't talk about social issues and would just accept defeat on some of them I'd vote for him on smarts alone.
