What is the correct protocal for a dog bite?

Quick story... Bullshitting with neighbor across the pond and petting his dog as we bullshite about killing nutria. My 11yo walks ups, while bream fishing, and pets the dog. The dog turns on him and bites the hell out of him. I pull my son away and tell him to "suck it up".
Now, neighbor tells me his dog is aggressive to kids but not adults. They are concerned about the baby they will be having shortly.
I blew it off and told my kid to get over it and "suck it up". The more I think about it... the more pissed I get.
What would OT do? Let it ride or take revenge?
Wishing I still had my Blackmouth and Scott bulldog.. would be a hell of a show

No use getting pissed now, should've whooped it's arse earlier

He should have told you not to let your child get near. Anything you do is your choice.

Maybe your kid learned not to pet that dog. Take that as a freebie

I'd be peeved too, if they knew the dog has issues they should have spoke up.
That said, your child learned a valuable lesson in that not all dogs are friendly.

This.
I know my dog doesn't roll too well with other dogs, and I let people know beforehand.
Its shitty as a dog owner to wait until after something happens to be like "oh yeah..."

That he did.
Whats funny is... he has had Rotwiellers, Curs, and American Bulldogs and all have been pussies when it comes to family.
lesson learned but daddy is still aggravated.

Would have told my son to bite him back. That is after I had given the dog a mouth full of bloody Chicklets.
I really have no patience for a biting dog.

This might sound bad but I really wish his bulldog was still around when it happened. Would have been quite a show.

Your kid's going to probably grow up to be a cop. This is how it begins.
Srsly, fella should have warned you and your child.

Happened to me when I was younger. Uncles dog(who I had been around MANY times) attacked me when I ran up on him with a fish in my hand.
I might be dumb for this but I don't get mad at dogs for doing dog things. As long as I'm not seriously injured it's whatever. I'm cautious around lone dogs that I don't know but I can't get mad at a dog for something that's my fault. If someone ran up to like I did to the dog I'd be pretty freaked out too.

Shot it
Told owner that his dog bites kids
Carry on.....
I love dogs as much as the next guy. But it's a dam dog. Not letting my kids get bitten by a dog

Neighbor should've warned you & the kid about the dog. Kid learned, the hard way, not to walk up to strange dogs & pet them. If the bite didn't do anything more than bruise, just ask your neighbor to keep his dog confined when kids are around. If there is a tear to the skin, clean it up really really well, don't believe the whole "a dogs mouth is cleaner than a human's" bit-it ain't!

Personally, I'd shoot a dog that bites a child.

All BS aside, call owner and ask if the dog has shots right away, like when it happen. If the dog does, your son learn a lesson. If not, you need to call animal control. The owner will have to pay for the dog to go to a Vets office for 10 days to be checked.
