Do you ever call a service company and demand that someone come out RIGHT NOW?

and if so, how has that worked out for you?

what kind of service? Some are designed for 'right now' calls. But some aren't...

All the time and it works out great.
ServiceMaster and Servpro are my bitch!

no but I have pulled a kramer when they missed appointments and on the reschedule, purposely been miles away. When they call, I tell them to wait an hour or so, Ill be there when I can

I have seen my dad do it, but it's usually been for something pipeline or plant related. If he has to do that, something has failed catastrophically.

I've called a plumber and asked kindly if someone was available to come within the hour for an emergency. They happily agreed and had someone over right away.
I'm not an a-hole who demands things of people who are not obligated to me.

No....but after one of the hurricanes, I called Entergy asked them when the power on my street in Baton Rouge was going to be restored. It had been about a month since the storm and all the surrounding blocks had lights. There was no visible damage to any of the lines other than some debris caught in them.
At some point, the Entergy person on the phone said that the transformer needed to be reset (I have no idea what that means) and that it would take a week to get someone to my street with a bucket truck because of all the damage. In the most Cajun accent I could pull off, I told not to bother because I had a ladder and I could do it myself, and then hung up.
An Entergy truck showed up about 20 minutes later, and my power was restored within an hour.

If it's something easy and your going to pay more then yeah, if you're just an a-hole toy go on the blacklist.

Only for something dangerous like a gas leak or the AC going out in the middle of summer in southern Louisiana.

I know an older, wealthy lady who had an antenna put up at the hunting camp. This was years ago, by the way.
Long story short, the antenna wouldn't work and she was about to miss the Saints game on local TV.
She calls and says she wants to see the game and for them to send someone out. The person that answered the phone told the lady it would be quite expensive to send someone out on a Sunday. The lady replied, I can cover whatever you charge.
There was a man there within the hour.

About a month ago I had a guy who had a 96 Mustang with a door glass broke out. He called about 4 in the afternoon and I told him it would be mid morning the next day before I could get out there since I didnt have that glass on hand. He literally said M Fer I need it now, now get your arse out here.
After explaining that door glass calls aren't nearly as common so I don't just keep them on hand he calmed down. His ex knocked his door window out and tried to set his car and house on fire that morning. He calmed down and I went out the next day and he was cool as shite, he was obviously in a bad state of mind the day before. Maybe I should had hung up on him but he gave me an extra $60 since he cussed me out and even though I tried not to accept it he threw it in my truck

See that's an emergency.
I get calls like "It's 8am on Sunday I was seeing if someone could come fix my dishwasher today. I need it done asap"
"My dryer went out and I can't wait till monday to wash these clothes"
Nothing really important. I may come out for a fridge or freezer if it's something we worked on before or its a repeat customer. But as it is most of the time I'm backed up.
People expect same day service and that is hard to do.

What I've done in the past is if a business sends out an employee to repair something for me I always ask if they do side work on their own. Basically, all have told me they do. I then get a number to reach them at. I've always had at least next day repair if not the day I call them. Saves quite a bit of money.

We had an ice storm and power had been out for weeks. Power was finally restored to the hood except for one house. The guy kept calling and power co. said they wouldn't address individual houses until all the main grids had been repaired.
The guy got out his chainsaw and cut down a power pole taking out the whole hood. If he couldn't have power nobody would. Cops and power co. showed up with quickness. The guy got him some electricity at the jail.

I tell that to schlumberger but they don't listen, so I use Halliburton.
