Maybe i don't know great bbq, but i've eaten bbq at a few places in Texas and my favorite place to eat bbz is still Couyon's in Port Allen. Gross place, sides are awesome and i love the pulled pork and brisket. And i don't eat it with sauce.

Dude. Voodoo is not good.
Need to get those taste buds checked out.
I know, I know, opinions on food are subjective. I like Voodoo, you don't. Fine. But just know that public opinion is with me:

This thread has made me want to go to McClure's today.

I think you just proved his point

Wouldn't be surprised if those rankings are padded. Voodoo sucks......honestly I've never come across anyone who has had anything good to say about the place.

I've often wondered this myself. Never had anything better than decent BBQ in LA and it was barely that. Franklin's should open up a joint in LA .
As for the fool (topwatertrout) who said texas BBQ sucks after he only went to a place in Corpus & Houston, a previous poster was spot on when they said you just haven't had hill country BBQ yet out near Lockhart, Lexington, Austin, or anywhere in that area. They have some amazing joints out there.
I live in Houston and agree, for such a big city with so much potential to make a killing the BBQ here flat out sucks.

Because we a seafood culture that cannot be topped by any state! I'd rather have seafood culture over Bbq any day. Being able to eat a fresh shrimp poboy tops eating Bbq any day. You don't appreciate it unless you live somewhere else!
I disagree. There is no reason we can't have both. Now i will admit, you're not going to see many competing BBQ places around town. But i think if someone wanted to open one, with the bbq pit style like those places in Austin, it would do very well.

Everything is 80% or 4/5 and above

80% rating in Baton Rouge is like a 60% rating in a food snob town.

Fine, don't believe the reviews. The only feedback that matters is sales. And it appears from their growth that sales are good.

Well if you read FDB you would swear they serve dog food and month-old cold cuts there. Get out in the real world, actually give it a try. You might even surprise yourself.

Sorry McClure's but this is not worth $14 + tax

It's nothing like the old pop up days.

Nope. The quality was better and so was the value.

Call my crazy but I like cold BBQ out the fridge.

Ribs were not. Brisket was.
Neither were as good as it used to.
RE: BlackenedOut
The short 5 minute drive will not effect the quality of the meat any more than however long it has been off the pit.
