The Packers are 8-7-1 and they get to host a playoff game?

Green Bay is 8-7-1 and yet, they are making the playoffs over 10-6 Arizona and get to host 12-4 San Francisco in a playoff game. This is a Packer team that doesn't have a single player on the Pro Bowl roster and yet their division is enough of a joke that they are hosting a playoff game.
Tell me the NFL's playoff system doesn't need work. Let's not forget 7-9 Seattle and 8-8 San Diego have also gotten to host playoff games not that long ago.
Why not just ditch divisions and go for conference seeding? I'd much rather get to play a more diverse schedule than have to play boring NFC South opponents twice a year anyway.

The NBA has the right idea by proposing getting rid of divisions in my opinion. I know the NFL relies on the divisions to foster rivalries, etc, but they really affect competitive balance and fairness. If Indianapolis and Arizona switched divisions, Arizona might be hosting a playoff game or on a bye and Indy would probably not be in the playoffs.

If you don't like it, then win your division.

They should seed for the playoffs.

the nfl likes the status quo b/c divisions keep a lot of teams alive for as long as possible
the alternative is to let in everybody with a pulse, which is even worse

It's such a gay system

I don't mind the divisions winners getting auto picked for playoffs. I think they should seed top 6 once division and and wild card are decided. That way SF and NO won't be going to a 8-7-1 and 10-6 teams.

I like the playoffs format exactly as it is.

Seattle hosted one at 7-9 3 years ago.

The saints lost to a 7-9 team. I don't see anything wrong with the current system. Sometimes it hurts your team and sometimes it helps your team just win your division and you probably will not have to travel.

Yea the Saints defense was riddled with injuries.
The screwy thing about this year is that the 2 toughest divisions played each other (Central and West) so the disparity is really greater than the record differential. We'll see how it works out.

Which is part of the problem. Why reward a 7-9 team with a home game, and punish a better team by making them travel?

You can thank Detroit for that.

I just read that 3 of the 4 games this weekend are still under blackout rules. Green Bay, Cinn, & Indy all have thousands of unsold tickets.
