What do you want us to say? We all have our reasons for not going.

Ok, the truth? We LSU fans don't give a rats phuck about Iowa football. Y'all are unranked, boring to even think about, and have no name recognition. We don't care if Iowa is a good team bc we don't care about Iowa.

yea, ive got 4 tickets. I went to the atl last year even though i hate the chicken bowl. I dislike Les Miles for the most part because he can't manage a clock and his losses are down right embarrassing most of the time. Im still going to the game. 1. I think its cool that we are playing in a bowl game we never get to play in.
2. its on the same level as the cotton right outside the bcs.
3. I want to see tampa bay
4. 6heismans gets to play the entire game.

You live in Tampa. If this game was at ULM I'd be going too.

As far as Iowa fans, if it was -17 where I lived I'd want to get the hell away as well.

I'll preface this post by saying that I've got tickets to the game and will be going.

But eventually, something has to give. Tickets cannot stay at this price point -- particularly not for a bowl of this caliber, versus a historically insignificant opponent. Obviously bowls can't prorate their tickets every year based on how shitty the B1G team is, but like I said...something has to give. The pricing is outrageous...and since I keep buying, I suppose I'm contributing to the problem.

It's the students fault. They are the only people that don't go to games and leave early and all. The season ticket holders and other non student fans are the true fans, and they showed it in a big way by buying up tickets and supporting their team.

I remember lots of empty seats in most of the bowl games last year - except the national title game and the Rose Bowl.

Is Tampa not fun

Tampa is the funnest city I've been to besides maybe Vegas.
And it probably beats out vegas. Cigar capital of the US. Cuban influence and food, fantastic gulf beaches, great weather. One of the best steakhouses in the country. Best strip club in the world.

That said, LSU fans right now are still suffering from a form or PTSD related to the Mulligan Bowl, and it has affected our traveling and our home game environment. The expenses related to attending a college football game have grown while the enjoyment hasn't. 2011 was the most enjoyable season LSU has ever had, and it ended so suddenly that LSU fans are wary of trusting the program again.

I'm seeing this a lot. My question is this; when will it change? What will it take for this to go away - another championship game appearance? I just do not get this line of thinking. It's been almost 2 years since that game! Reading some of the negative posts here, I have a feeling that some people will never get over that game. It's as though LSU could win 4 national championship in a row, but people would still be pissy over something that happened a decade ago.

I'm fortunate enough to have been comped 4 section 111 tickets, parking, and a brunch, so my family is going. Our total to go to Tampa for 4 days is going to be roughly $3200. Yes, that's expensive, but I've never been to Tampa and am looking forward to it.

I don't see why it's surprising to everyone. It's the same reason why it's happening regular season as well. It's way too easy and more cost effective to stay at home and watch party. It doesn't make you any less of a fan, IMO.

This. Plus who gives a shite. It's an unranked Iowa team. No real history together (yeah, I know, 2005). Nothing at stake. Nothing to win. Not much to lose. I think the team shows up to avoid losing three bowls in a row, but why would anyone go out of his way to attend this one. I'll watch on TV or my computer. If I were home and I wanted to do something with my dad, maybe I'd pay $150 for a pair of tickets and make the drive to Tampa. Maybe.

aylor & UCF sent back eighteen thousand tickets earlier today. Even BCS bowls are taking a hit.

Because Baylor fans think they are championship caliber and playing UCF is not exciting. Why pay all that money for a shitty matchup?

The real money is in the playoffs.

People will be geting 3x face for every game, especially that Wisconsin home opener!

It is in Houston -- only 2 hours from SW LA and home to the largest concentration of LSU graduates outside the state of LA ..... FACE value for good tickets (lower bowl, center sections) is $300 --- they are trying to "compete" with Jerry World on ticket prices .... but the thing that's really driving them UP through the roof is the payout to the schools.

UW was offered a couple million and still wanted to further negotiate ---- I'm sure LSU gets a like share ---- which costs the fans out that wazzou.

All about the money.... but at least UW vs. LSU should be a good game! I will be there -- 6 tickets in the center already ordered and paid for --- with a $115 "add on" for the Texas Bowl tickets I had to buy as a "package" and had to GIVE away because I couldn't find buyers on StubHub etc. at $50 each....

So, my cost for 45 - 45 yard line tickets for UW NEXT season stands at $415 per ticket ---- I can't imagine what some folks will be listing them for on StubHub around Augsust 1 next year.

College football is changing and has been for several years. Fans of most schools are simply not as fanatical about attending games as used to be. If it is not a top matchup, just stay home ad watch it on TV along with better matchups on a plethora of sports networks.

My wife and I, season ticket holders since 1980, went to the bama game in Tuscaloosa last month and the people we sat next to, bama season ticket holders, told us that the LSU game was the first bama home game that had people in every seat in their section. They also told us their section was 90% empty by the end of the 3rd quarter every week.

And we build more seats which will NOT be filled for 90% of our home games.
