Why would Clemson (10-2) get at-large over Baylor (11-1)?

With a win over Texas, Baylor would be 11-1 on the season and ranked in the top 10. Seems like Baylor would deserve an at-large BCS bid over Clemson, yet most bowl projections have Clemson getting the nod. Is this because of them getting first choice of a replacement at-large for Florida State?

Cuz they have more alumni which means more fans
They shouldn't though get the bid tho

Because Baylor's traveling fan base blows.

Yes. Although they could also take Bama if the SEC Champ is in the Sugar Bowl.

Baylor's stadium only seats 50k
they have only filled it to that capacity 6 times in their history and 4 of those were against A&M traveling in high numbers due to us being so close to them. The other two were against Texas (1960) and OU (2013).
their fan base does not travel for shite either.
they only bought 800 tickets out of 3k to their last game in Kyle Field.

They also returned 3000 of 3800 for their game against Oklahoma State this year.

Well Virginia Tech (11-2) got an at-large over teams that deserved it more back in 11.

That is pretty surprising considering they are building a badass new stadium. I thought their fanbase would be excited and actually attend more games.
On another note UCF and Northern Illinois are looking like they'll get BCS games, yet I doubt they'd travel very well (even though UCF probably has one of the largest enrollments in the country).

Orange Bowl would be making that decision, and they're an ACC tie-in bowl so it would be natural for them. The only real reason is $$$ though.

Even if Michigan State gets blown out on Saturday, they still are going to the BCS before Baylor.
This is why I am so glad the BCS is dead. Deserving teams with shitty matchups is one thing, but undeserving teams and shitty matchups is another.
Clemson(coming off a loss) gets a BCS bowl but South Carolina doesn't.
Michigan State(coming off a loss) gets a BCS bowl but Baylor doesn't.
Central Florida & Northern Illinois get a BCS bowl but Auburn or Mizzou won't.
Pass over 3 top ten teams and take 4 teams that won't finish in the BCS Top 10.

Does the comittee put all the teams in every bowl, or just the top four?
I haven't even thought about that.

and it back fired, they didn't even come close to selling their tickets. UM did but the VT invite was an egg on the face.

We had to return the tickeys by 7/1.
Plus tickets through other means (ticketmaster, stubhub, etc) are much cheaper.
Regardless, we have a small fan base. It is as simple as that.

Baylor doesn't travel for shite compared to Clemson

We have traveled well for both bowl games.
12,500 undergrad and a 50,0000 stadium usually leads to poor showing. Floyd Casey was simply just too large.
Our attendance will never be the likes of UT, A&M, any large public school. We just don't have the number of alumni.
