He's had some real estate investments that went bad. I think he was involved with some of Spinoza's wheeling and dealing.

Saban will stay at Bama until he decides to retire. Retirement won't come soon, because Saban has the ego that he wants to shatter the Bear's record. This year will probably be a three peat and look for next year to be a four peat. This guy can recuit and outcoach most coachs. Saban is Bear two at Bama. His family loves living in this state.

Judging by your post history, you're either a bama alter or you're the textbook definition of what folks on here call "NegaTiger" and what I call a rantard fair weather POS.

Has there ever been a time when people said a successful coach and his family hated living where they were coach?

There is a long way to go this season. While they could win it all, they are clearly vulnerable.

Next year they lose a ton most importantly at QB. They will still be really good of course, but it is a tad premature to dub them likely favorites in 2014.

Saban is good. He's not that good, and it's a different game now than it was in the Bryant era, with more parity. It's doubtful he wins it all this year, and he absolutely will not win one next year with a brand new QB.

You guys need to get it out of your head that this guy is ten feet tall. He's one of the better coaches around right now, but he's not a living legend. He's been the recipient of a lot of good fortune the last few years re lack of injuries and things falling his way. That sort of thing doesn't last forever, and when Karma comes around, he'll look a lot more ordinary.

Here is what I believe happened: UM AD contacted Miles agent and asked IF miles is interested WHAT would it take. He got an answer, reported back to Ann Arbor powers that be and they realized Miles was a real possibility. So they used Desmond Howard to sucker Hetbstreit into reporting the job "offer" the day of the SECCG so miles would have to deny it

We'll never know what really happened, but I've always thought it was some variation of this. We were coming off the Arkie loss and Spurrier was available at the time, so when Herbie broke his story that morning I was hoping he'd go. But a couple of hours later that "damn fine press conference" won me over, even though I took the anger as disingenuous. I've doubted him at times but I love his personality. His clownish behavior goes hand in hand with the thick skin that makes him such a fit for LSU.

UT take themselves far too seriously for Miles.

But Jerry Jones might just pull the trigger one day.

Someone told me Texas was offering Saban a huge amount like $25,000,000 I don't know where he heard it or if it's at all valid. But I do think Bama would go way up like 15 or so to keep him.

Could just be a fake rumor.

Why wouldn't Texas go after Charlie Strong?

You may be correct considering playing that candy arse schedule they have had for three straight seasons.

If someone says $25M per year that's laughably stupid. The highest paid pro coach makes around $8M. There is no way Texas or anyone would offer triple that. They are the most valuable college program but they are not close to the top pro franchises in value. They are underachieving at the moment but were in the BCS CG 4 years ago, it is not like they are this desperate floundering program.

No he wasn't. He was hired by South Carolina in Dec 2004. He wasn't even "available" ie not working when Saban left LSU.

i am but a reflection of the spiritual power within you.

miles is but a reflection of the spirtitual power within YOU.

YOU see in MILES what is withing YOU.

i see miles as a deeply spiritual man of character, very intelligent and humble w/ a great family life.

what you see is what you see with. his character is a reflection of your character. his honesty is your honesty.

THIS is how life works.

haters gotta hate.

Texas has the money to bring in anybody, Saban and Miles too ( ) but I really think they should go for a younger coach. Will be interesting to see what happens over there, but right now, I am enjoying every loss by Texas...

UTa will likely go after Hugh Freeze, Charlie Strong, James Franklin, Art Briles and maybe Gary Patterson.

IMHO Hugh Freeze should be their first call and Charlie Strong their second.
