I wouldn't. You're messing with his routines, messing with his arm right before we will need it most. Here you just have depend on your bullpen to pull through. We will need them in the next few weeks Glenn or not, so might as well give them another audition.

There is some truth to that, but rain could cause the same problem. It is disingenuous to pretend like that is more important than selecting a matchup that gives you the best chance at winning.

I don't agree with the decision, but I'm 100% sure that Mainieri is making it for strategic reasons. Like others have said, he's banking on Nola on Sat and feels good about what ULL has behind their #2.

In short, this decision is a reflection of what he thinks of ULL and SHSU.

This. We made it to regionals twice when I played in college (DIII). One year we were the team out of the four tested (or so we thought). Turned out it was a dummy test. Several players went up to our coach confessing to smoking weed. They were scared to death. Pretty funny in retrospect but would have been a different story if we lost players.
