Time to declare war on Squirrels. What kind of weapon should I get?

Squirrels keep eating my plants. I take this personal. I have a crappy pellet gun that don't shoot straight. What weapon do I need? Looking to keep it at $150 or under. I'm in a neighborhood (we have big yards) so I have to keep the collateral damage minimal and noise levels down.
Until I get my weapon, I'm setting rat traps in my trees. Heard that works pretty good.

My uncle traps them and I use them to train my dog.

Any cheap 22 with subsonic ammo.
Marlin makes some affordable rifles. Check them out.

20 gauge with low velocity short brass shotgun shells. My neighbor pops em all the time.

My Dad (87) slayed them for years with a Crossman shooting BB's, but after I upgraded him with a sighted-in, 1400 FPS Gamo pellet rifle, his recovery ratio went WAY up. He figures he's killed nearly 1000 over the years out of his backyard (in BR). They ate stuff in his garden for years, but when they started screwing up his orchids, it was ON.

AR-22 is the only possible answer.

Ruger Air Hawk .177 Caliber.
Other than a Benjamin, this a damn accurate and powerful rifle for the $, and will definitely take care of any squirrel problem you have. I think I may have paid $120 for it.

Bolt action .22 rifle with a 25-inch barrel.
Fire CCI CB Shorts.
Quieter than an air rifle...four times as deadly.
I've taken hundreds of squirrels with that setup (inside of neighborhoods).
