"We started making phone calls and realized there is a waiting list up to a year. We have to limit the amount of times we go and train because we want to keep an adequate stock."
"Nobody can get us ammunition at this point," says Sgt. Jason LaCross of the Bozeman, Montana police department.

They should call DHS.

Why are ammo vendors not refusing to fill DHs orders and instead filling cops and citizens?

Pre-existing contracts with the government. And why would any business pass on making money for the opportunity to make less.

Actually, I bet the ammo company could make MORE money selling the ammo to someone OTHER than DHS. If it's anything like drugs and pharmaceuticals, the government bought the ammo at a discounted rate.

roughly $0.23 per round.

According to a statement Federal released last week, the government is only 5% of their business, the rest is us.

Talked to LSP trooper about this at Bass Pro today. He said their range time has been scaled back significantly

LSP is scaled back because they don't have money to buy bullets.

Yea citizens are buying up all the ammo. DHS had some big orders, but it is mostly citizens. Hell you can't even find .22 ammo anywhere and I'm pretty sure the DHS wouldn't buy .22 ammo.

Maybe they can use the extra time to learn how to drive.
Police driving skills are sorely lacking.
