She held brief jobs to help make ends meet as needed; cashier/retail jobs and school cafeteria manager for about 10 years; she mostly stayed home to raise me and my brother. Dad is a retired Navy Senior Chief, got a Computer Science degree after he retired in 79 and spent the next 25 years working for Coca-Cola and some of their subsidiaries.

ETA: I never met Mom's parents, her father left when she was 12; her mother died (hit by a train, of all things) when she was 16.

Maternal - Both of them grew up on cotton farms outside Columbia, LA. Pawpaw worked at the power plant in WM until the early 80's, then did a little bit of everything until a few years ago.

Paternal - Pawpaw enlisted in the Navy at 16 years old in '43, did 4 years and then worked for Ma Bell running phone lines until he retired.

Both mawmaws were stay at home moms, but did work at different banks for a while when I was a kid.
