I agree that Josh looked like a very strong candidate to win that competition, esp. with his background as a former major league baseballer for a brief period of time.

Best of luck to him!

He was a knucklehead when he was at LSU, so I guess it fits....

They showed him taking some hacks, and the kid looked damn good. Knocked 2 HRs out of 5 batting practice pitches. Though I'd bet a decent curveball would eat him alive.

He's 26, and this is the most baseball he's played since high school. He should stick with football.

RP was on 104.5 yesterday & he said he's gotten calls from several MLB teams, most notably the Royals, asking him to come work out at spring training. RP said his passion is still football, but he will listen to any real offers & make up his mind then. Sounds like he finally got his shite together.

You have to be better than decent to have any reasonable chance at making a living playing baseball in the U.S.. Look at the great players who have come through LSU and never sniffed at making it to the Majors. Players like Cresse, Furness and Dean are all-time tiger greats and they weren't good enough.

The worst player on the worst team in the Majors is a phenomenal baseball player.

"The worst player on the worst team in the Majors is a phenomenal baseball player."

Yes and no. Pitchers are funny, especially speciality pitchers, such as left handed relievers who are often inserted into a game to get one batter out, and knucklers might also fit into this exception to the rule.

One example - although admittedly not a very prominent one - is former Marlins pitcher and La. native, Pat Rapp. Pat was arguably not the best player (or pitcher) on his high school team, went to Southern Miss (after JUCO, I think), and was never a phenom at any level. He just kept making incremental progress and was a big righty who could throw modestly hard. Never a star, he made a nice living and was for a time the Marlins' all time win leader.

Supply for OF's and IF's outsrips demand. Demand for MLB pitching may be greater than the supply.

Yes, its true there have been a number of pitchers who may not have been great athletes but could still contribute, in a limited role, and make a ton of money.

I was thinking of position players when I posted my comment.
