Also, I guarantee now that Favre is at Slidell, they will start getting guys that live in Salmen's zone.

What a pile of sour grapes. She mad that Barbe was beat by a better Rummel team in the championship? You didn't see Rummel's principal bitching after they lost in the baseball final did you?
this is dumb, she's not complaining that Barbe lost but why they lost, which is that Rummel can recruit kids

Any complaint from Barbe's principal about a school recruiting kids is fricking laughable.

Ask them about the kid from Natchitoches that transferred in this year for baseball.

I'm ashamed of my alma mater for voting yes.

A big consolidated public school, that can draw on kids from most of a decently large parish is pretty much always on par competitively with a larger catholic/private school that draws kids throughout possibly a larger region, but has several other similarly situated schools in its region doing the same.

Recent and past history has clearly played this out as such.

But the kids Barbe recruited in baseball that won the state championship was ok?

Please present the evidence you have the Rummel "recruited" any of those kids.

I think the whole split thing is going to be awful

I'd much rather allowing private or "select" schools to play up but making them play all the way up if they did

I really think the elite public school enjoy the challenge of beating the private school (unless it's 1A or 2A, hence letting them play up)

That's what I find laughable, public schools are quick to bring up the "advantages" private schools have, but then generally provide very little specific evidence.

Show me evidence of where I'm wrong with regard to 5A football.

So...basically unless a Jarvis Landry, Gavin Webster, and Dexter McCoil don't all grow up in the same school district, a public school 3A and below can't win State anymore?

I hear Episcopal is going to be moving up in a few years.

EHS' enrollment has been pretty constant the past 10+ years as far as I've seen, which tends to put them in the upper 25% of AA each time.

If they're moving up, it's because a lot of other schools are shrinking rather than them getting bigger.

Gonna be awesome when the privates leave the LHSAA and it becomes open season with recruiting.

It probably could have all been nipped in the bud by forcing JC and Evangel to play 5A

Didn't JC used to play up but the schools in whatever class bitched and they had to start playing in AA again?

Did some research on state champs in LA since Katrina. 5 divisions in the 7 years post, 35 total champions. 18 private schools, 17 public.

Derek Ponamsky on Twitter, so where exactly is this huge discrepancy again?

Evangel was in 5A from 99 to 04. They won state in 99, 01, 02, 03, and lost in the finals in 04 only because JDB skipped his senior year. 2000 was the only year they didn't play in the Dome and that was due to playing in a massive thunderstorm.

My gf's mom is the principal at Barbe and I talked to her about this just last night. Public schools are sick of private schools recruiting/winning everything.
Private schools winning everything? This is completely FALSE! For the ten years leading up to 2011, public schools have won 28 state championships while private had won 22.
