I was just thinking about someone from the 49ers would be great. Also like butler in PIT.

I think Chad nailed it.

quote:

Jim Tomsula is in his sixth season with the 49ers as the team’s defensive line coach, after having also served as San Francisco’s interim head coach for the final game of the 2010 season.

Since Tomsula’s arrival, the 49ers run defense and pass rush have steadily improved. During his five seasons with the team, the defense has allowed a mere 3.64 yards per carry, to rank second in the NFL during that span. In terms of yards per carry allowed, San Francisco’s defense ranked 5th (3.8) in 2007, 8th (3.8) in 2008, 3rd (3.6) in 2009, 2nd (3.5) in 2010 and 1st (3.5) in 2011, a notable improvement from ranking 16th (4.1) in 2006 prior to Tomsula’s arrival.

Not a huge fan of the idea of Ryan. He couldn't get his scheme to work consistently in Dallas with a good amount of talent.

I guess you didn't pay much attention then, they did 10 times better than us with a TON of major injuries.

He also has outstanding, top shelf talent.

Not saying that the firing was unjustified, but some players have to move as well. Can't just start and stop with the coach.

While I agree, we don't have the cap space (even with a few major cuts) to go out and get top shelf guys. I am aware Loomis is a baller, but unless we get a bunch of guys to go super low, we're really not going to have the money to pick up more than 1 or maybe 2 badasses.

Sorry, but you don't preside over the worst defense in NFL history and expect to keep your job.

When Payton got here the first time he walked into the lockerroom, fired guys, made a statement and this team was never the same. It changed for the better. He is doing the same thing now. Our general is back commanding his troops and the rest of the NFL is fricked.

Damn it, now I have a chubby in public.

Has Nick Saban's name been mentioned as a D-Coordinator yet?

He's a 3-4 guy, right?

I'm down with both Romeo and Singletary, but Mangina's amoeba defenses were all pretty good and REALLY fun to watch.

I'm not saying recreate the Ravens D right away. But with the current group of players, big improvement just ain't in the cards.
