Mangini is a really bright defensive coach. Really, really bright.

They called him the Mangenius for a reason

Statistically it was bad, but they did improve. But let's not kid ourselves. We had no personal, had no picks to add guys prior to last year and the entire organization was a clusterfrick. Also as the NFL becomes more flag football like you're going to see a new worst defense of all time on an annual basis I think.

My feelings too, and it was worth saying twice.

They did not improve. The Carolina game was just as bad as the other games. A good game here or there is not an improvement.

Wow.

I didn't see this coming.

I thought they'd give him another year.

Exactly. I'd love it when we would have a good couple of series, and everyone was claiming the defense was on the rise. Just ignored the 75% of the game where they couldn't stop a soul.

Our D can improve drastically. It happens every year with other teams.

Damn. Wasn't expecting him to be fired after one year, even with the abysmal performance of the D last season.

There was a stretch where they looked a ton better. They gave up passing yards, but that's gonna happen with our offense. We had a couple of games where the run D was stout. But yeah,it faltered down the stretch.

Either way, the way we started off the season, stats wise, there wasn't much chance to improve enough to get out of the cellar.

All I remember, is the last half of the season all the fantasy experts were saying start anyone playing the Saints. And for a stretch there the Saints shut them down. It didn't last though.
