How common are 10 TD seasons for tight ends?

Yeah, it's easily Gonzo. I wish he wouldn't retire. His numbers would be more sick than what they are

I think both are in the top 3 of their position all time. Both are slam dunk, no question, first ballot Hall of Famers.
I do think this recent trend on the board to try and discredit Ray Lewis' greatness is cute, but silly. Lewis is Mike Singletary reborn.

In addition to all of those receiving stats Gonzales was a pretty solid run blocker in his prime
He was a big part of the Chiefs running attack a few years back when they were actually good

More common than 10 TD seasons for -any- receiver in a Kansas City Chief uniform.
The guy spent better than a decade playing for essentially a semi-pro franchise.

Not trying to discredit Lewis, but his retirement is of much fanfare, while Gonzalez is just a blurb.
More of bringing light to how great Gonzalez was and comparing his greatness to Lewis's is relevant considering they are both retiring. If it were Manning instead of Lewis, I'd compare him to Gonzalez.

And Gonzalez is undeniably great. I'm just saying, there's been a rash of threads on this board trying to say Lewis isn't that great, and that's just silly.

Well ESPN basically shut down when Ray Lewis decided to retire, so if they over-covered it a backlash is to be expected.
Gonzalez is getting a fraction of the love Lewis received and he, by all accounts, is a stand up guy (or just hasn't been caught yet).

I've met Gonzalez a few times. He is the same dude that you see in the interviews. Down to earth and cool as hell.

I say Gonzalez and it's not close.

Lewis he'll go down as one of the best LB, of all time.
There are TE's, who if both were in their prime, i'd rather have , than Gonzales.

I'd take TG too, but I think it is just easier to put his career in perspective because he is an offensive player and his statistics are easier to quantify.
Btw I wouldn't rag on his QBs, it always seemed like he had decent guys throwing him the ball. He was pretty much the only receiving option for years.
As far as Lewis, I think he got a lot of pub because he always called attention to himself. I think he was great, but only truly elite for a few years. Back around when they won the Super Bowl. It seemed for like a short stretch he did made every play on that defense. Forcing fumbles, intercepting balls, etc. He always got a lot of kudos whether he was playing good or not, because of the way he played during that stretch, and because of the way Balt's D led them to the win in that SB. Won't get into the fact that he always had great players playing next to him. But he always got the credit even when he was too slow to make plays late in his career

I agree with you on the irrational Lewis hate, but in this thread, we're talking about greatness at their respective position.
Lewis is in the discussion for greatest ever MLB.
Gonzalez IS the greatest TE ever. There is no discussion.
That's the difference, and it's clearly not an insult against Lewis.

Lewis for sure. Top 5 LB to ever play the game and more importantly the leader of one of the best defensive units the NFL has ever seen.

Who? Did you even see Gonzalez in his prime? He is number 2 all time in receptions (that includes WR)...he is undeniably the greatest TE in the history of the NFL
This really isn't a question, it has to be Tony

Gonzo is the right answer here. When people talk about the great TEs Gonzo is always the first mentioned.
Same cant be said about Ray, top 5 for him.

Tony G. There is no question about it.
