And he was great because no other quarterback had ever been successful using Bill Walsh's dink and dunk system throwing to Jerry Rice

Young has 7.98 yds/attempt, higher than Brees, Manning, and Montana.

Not exactly dink and dunk.

Aaron Rodgers is overrated if you put him in the Manning/Brady class. After the Packers lost there wasn't a single thread about him being a "choker" thats how you know he doesn't belong in the same class as Peyton/Brady.

I have a hard time considering Aikman overrated since no one ever includes him in the discussion of greatest QBs.

Has nothing to do with the kind of offense he ran.

Probably because he actually wins a playoff game here and there. And I've never heard anyone call Brady a choker either.

Exactly. Throw a slant to Rice. throw = 6 yards...play = 15 yards. Young gets credit for Rice's RAC.

Well this is dumb because every qb gets that benefit. Name a current big time qb who doesn't dink and dunk these.

I have seen him ranked ahead of guys like Moon, Warner, Fouts Bledsoe Cunningham etc so yeah he is very overrated

Terry Bradshaw

Joe Montana (his backup was better than him)

Rice gets more than everybody else.

If Peyton Manning and Drew Brees had to play for the Dolphins in the '80s and '90s, they wouldn't have come close to winning a ring. Back in those days, you needed to have a solid running game and great defense to win it all. The AFC had all the great QBs but the NFC kept winning Super Bowls with the likes of Jim McMahon, Phil Simms, Doug Williams, Jeff Hostetler, and Mark Rypien at QB. If Dan Marino had played in today's NFL, he would have gone down as the GOAT.

You would take Bledsoe over Aikman?

Good god I am amazed at some of the things on here. Let's say this is true. Does this mean Brett Favre is also one of the most overrated?

The 1994-95 49ers offense was better than any offense that Joe Montana quarterbacked.

If Peyton has a typical year next year, he should break Marino's record.

What record does Marino still have?

Brett Favre's backup was better than him when he was like 37 years old. So, no.

Still doesn't mean Young or Montana are overrated. You can't say they weren't some of the best just because they played with the best receiver of all time.

You really have to seperate the qb's that called their own plays to the ones that have a live feed to their offensive co-ordinator. In my own opinion, the ones that had to recognize defenses and react, are eons better. Not to say the post headset qb's now couldn't do it, its just the way I see it.
I agree with this. It's hard to compare across different eras because Bradshaw/Tarkenton, et al, were asked to do different things than Brees/Manning, et al.
