Wait, is this serious?

Well, maybe their QB shouldn't have coughed it up twice and been outplayed by Alex Smith.
He wasn't the only one. Yall were +4 in turnover margin and could barely squeak out a win at home.

Because we play in a different conference, we can't maintain an elite defense bringing everyone back? Really?
Aaron Rodgers
Drew Brees
Eli Manning
Mike Vick
Cam Newton
Tony Romo
Matthew Stafford
Matt Ryan
Jay Cutler
Yea, you play in the worst division in football with the worst QBs. At some point the teams you play out of your division change.
Like I said, its a QB driven league. The NFC has the better offenses, and better QBs.

How many teams set overall yardage records every year? Good luck repeating that bread and butter?
The Saints have had a top 5 offense just about every year under Payton except maybe 1. lulz

There is a lot of dumb in this thread, an agreement will never be reached.
I can be a Saints homer, but I'd have to say that as per the OP's guidelines San Fran have the edge on overall roster, excluding QB.
Then again, I have no clue if Alex Smith will revert back to being horrible, or if their defense will play above their individual levels again this season.

how does it work out that "the Niners clearly have the better roster," especially when the Saints have a much bigger advantage at the most important position in the game?
See thread title. The Saints are perpetually one play away from being completely fricked, whereas if Smith goes down then for all we know Colin Kapernick comes in and is better.

Gimme a sure stud in Gore along with complimentary pieces over a team with complimentary pieces. Spores value is in the passing game but not as a RB1.

you can take Brandon Jacobs off their running back list now
I'll take PT, Ingram, Ivory, Sproles > Gore and James any day of the week. Gore may be the best back of the group, but our running backs are better IMO

we don't use him as RB1, we don't have a RB1. He averaged 6.9 YPC on the ground btw, which led the NFL
Frank Gore got 58 first downs last year, Sproles got 62 despite having 126 less touches

They said Ivory has been fumbling a lot in practice. He might lose his spot to the rookie, Cadet, which might actually be an upgrade.

If Brees is injured, you're done.
If Smith is injured, the effect will be minimal.

Saints offense is better than the 49ers offense.
49ers defense is better than the Saints defense.
Special teams, give me New Orleans.
David Akers may have scored a lot of points for them last year but that is only because the 49ers weren't very good in the redzone.
The 49ers turned it around because of that insane turnover ratio last year. It will be amazing if they can keep that up this year. I don't think they will. The 49ers offensive line gave up a lot of sacks last year, the Saints line gave up the fewest I think. You can credit Brees with some of that since he gets rid of the ball so quickly.
Saints have better RB's.
Gore has been a beast for the 49ers but he started to slow down at the end of last year. Brandon Jacobs doesn't upgrade that unit in my opinion, just another guy who is on the decline in my opinion.

Saints have a better offensive roster by far. So deep at almost every position. Now on defense, SF has a big advantage at LB and a slight advantage collectively at every other position, and a big advantage in the scheme. Special teams is a wash.
Overall saints roster > niners roster
Overall saints roster > niners roster

Pretty sure both teams are fricked

especially since he blew out his knee tonight

did not know that. In any case, the fact that they brought him in and drafted LaMichael James ought to give you an idea of what they think about Gore's future. Kendall Hunter was just drafted last year also.

49ers and they are back. Then Harbaugh can whip Jim Rome's sorry as for dogging him for years.

Saints offense is designed pass first and ran more offensive plays also. The is a product of the QB which we are eliminating thus this would diminish the value of Sproles as well.
Thomas, Ivory, and Ingram all appear to be better suited as back ups (although Ingram should be the starter and is still young) Gore is a proven stud in league who still gets it done.
Hunter has shown potential and could be a nice change of pace. Jacobs blowing out knee hurts depth as he was the short yardage/goal line. Still would take SF as they have done it without a QB

true, but 126 touches is a HUGE difference since Sproles only had 173 on the season.
We outrushed San Fran last year despite being a pass 1st offense
PT>Ingram too

San Fran much better front 7, I think the saints have the better secondary on defense. If you gave the saints DBS that pass rush/ front seven they'd have a much easier time.
I think Graham's ceiling is higher than Davis. Remember this is only JGs 4th year playing football ever.
Saints running backs and receivers are better and more diverse in my opinion.
Saints online is better up the middle.
But the quarterback difference is astronomical.
And gore is nowhere near a sure stud at this point and I like Frank Gore. Multiple Knee injuries, hip injuries....the dude is about done.
