Well they were as good as the saints last season and our QB is obviously much better, so the answer is rather simple imo.
49ers.
Replace both QBs with an average qb and the 9ers would fare better.

it must suck to have to take off a team's best player at the most important position to make the team's comparable...
San Fran D line is much better than the Saints. The whole defense is better than the Saints.
Graham is much better than Vernon Davis. Colston is much better than any 49er receiver.
RB is close. Gore is the best pure 1st and 2nd down runner. Overall, I give the Saints the edge at the position.
Saints offensive supremacy outweighs the 9ers defensive supremacy...and it's an offensive league...good quarterbacks win super bowls.

Special teams, give me New Orleans.
Why? Lee is the best punter in the league, Akers is top 3 kicker, Ginn is a good return man.

Thomas, Ivory, and Ingram all appear to be better suited as back ups (although Ingram should be the starter and is still young) Gore is a proven stud in league who still gets it done.
Saints had the 6 best rushing attack in the league last year. LOL. Despite being 20th in attempts
better than San Fran

Maybe if we'd had the replacement refs last year and they knew how to apply the forward progress rule it wouldn't matter.

I'd also say that Lechler is a better punter than lee.

So...you take away the most important position on the field to make yourself feel better about your team...NICE

Maybe, Lee's up there, he's been all pro like 4 times.

Congrats on going by team (combination of players) leading rusher was Sproles at 603 followed by Thomas with 563. Still doesn't nullify my previous statement either. Bunch of players who are better suited as back ups getting 10-15 touches a game.
Saints off takes a major hit when we do as OP stated. Thus reducing value of Sproles and what he can bring to a team.

This is so stupid....Why remove Brees?
He is on the team. The only reason to do so is to make 49er fans feel good about themselvs.
And who gives a frick if they are "better suited as backups" or Adrian Petersons....the saints RB corp gets the job done.

you can have your 49ers.
they don't have nearly the depth the saints do on offense. i disagree with teams that rely on one super star rb and/or wr..
the difference in depth is greater in the saints favor on offense than the difference on D.. and i doubt the niners have better special teams. pretty even with punting and kicking.. especially with sproles returning kicks.

again give me the saints offense than say another team such as the falcons who rely on 1 elite rb and 1 elite wr in the past.

Better suited as backups is laughable. Get a clue

quote:He doesn't need to take Brees away to feel better about his team, certainly not relative to the Saints. They presently have postseason scoreboard, they're being pumped as the most complete team in the NFL/SB favorite, and they're at the beginning of what should be a nice run of quality play, with a HC/system just getting started (while the aforementioned other team presently has no head coach). Objectively, he has more reason to feel better about his team this season than you do.

I suspect DS was just curious to see how many Saintards would bite. Normally the standard Saint/LSU overinflated opinion of self is worse, it was actually reasonable.

That's like saying the Saints have a QB without Brees.
He'll certainly wish he was a measly AC as one of the elite teams/staffs dismantle him in the postseason. Assuming of course he gets there.
What does Vitt do exactly anyway? Coach the position group that's been one of the team's weakest links? What does he assist Payton with? Helping keep him eligible?

Akers is top 3 kicker,
yeah. since that offense could not punch it in the endzone, Akers piled up plenty of points. I'm impressed
