Bron>jordan

quote:

“I’ve always thought Michael Jordan was the best player that I’ve ever seen,” Boeheim said, according to the Syracuse Post-Standard. “I always have and and I didn’t think it was close. I’m not so sure any more. And I love Michael Jordan. I’m not so sure anymore. This guy is 6-foot-9 and 260 pounds, and he’s getting better. He works on his game. His shooting is getting better. He’s a phenomenal, phenomenal basketball player. I love this game, I love the history of this game. I know we’ve had great, great players through the years. He’s like Magic Johnson with Michael Jordan-type skills as well.”

Still doesn't make him better than Kobe

Agree...Why is everyone scared to say it? IF you had an all-time team and you had the first draft pick, you would pick LeBron over Jordan.

And I don't even think it is close.

Theyre completely different types of players, its hard to compare the two of them. I think a better comparsion is LeBron/Magic.

Greg Anthony said Kobe was the best player to ever live a few years ago. When the best player in the league is having a particularly awesome run, the sensationalism runs rampant.

They may have different styles but the commonality is the ability to dominate a game. Comparing them is easy, just ask who would you rather build your team around. I don't think LeBron is there yet, but he seems to finally be putting it all together. I still would take Jordan for his killer instinct.

LeBron is definitely getting on that legendary status with his play of late. But in terms of who would I build a team around I think LeBron. He brings more to the game than Jordan IMO. His defense at all 5 positions, his speed/athleticism, his passing skills, make him to me a better asset to build a team around than Jordan. Yes Jordan's killing instinct was great but LeBron is getting there, quickly. Look at what he did in Game 6 against Boston, all of game 7 against Boston and then the whole OKC series he made huge plays.

Once LeBron wins 3 or 4 more titles, then we can have this conversation, IMO.

The truth is if I am starting a team I pick a prime Shaq over both of them.
But with today's rules, and no hand checking Jordan>>>>>>Lebron
Jordans intensity and will to win is what separates them. Jordan never walked out of an NBA finals press conference after he lost with fake glasses.

No if I had the first pick in an all time draft I would take Shaq.

Such a dumb thing to say, I hate this argument. Just because Lebron lost in the finals before doesn't mean he wanted to win any less. Wanting to win =/= winning; I'm sure Stockton and Malone wanted it just as bad as Jordan did.

Not talking about the finals, I am talking about a Tuesday night when they were on their 73-13 season and they lost a game. Michael Jordan came shoved two guys in the locker room. Saying that crap wasn't acceptable.
The guy didn't like to lose and is one of the most competitive people ever.

No, it is THE deciding factor. I won't argue that Lebron may be more talented and have better basketball skills than MJ. However, there is more to being a great player than just ability. It's the reason that Ryan Leaf and Jamarcus Russell were NFL busts. Now, don't mistake the previous statement into me thinking that Lebron is on those two guys level. I'm just stating that Jordan's will to win, and his determination to win at all costs puts him above Lebron. I don't see Lebron as the type of guy that will work relentlessly to win 5,6, or 7 championships, regardless of what he said at "the pep rally". Lebron wants to be liked by everyone, Jordan didn't care if you liked him or not.

The thing that makes Jordan the GOAT is that he was a relentless competitor. If the game was on the line, you knew Jordan was getting the ball. Team struggling? Jordan was taking over. There was no niceties about it: Jordan was there to win. Period.

Lebron said something in the Olympics after the Lithuania game that illustrated this. Lebron took over the last 4 mins of that game. The reporter asked him why he waited so long to do it, and he made a "just trying to help my team, get other people the ball" comment. You think Jordan would've ever said that?

I like Lebron. I think he's tremendously talented and has the skill to be the GOAT. But I really think his flaw is that he wants people to like him. I think his misguided efforts with his exodus from Cleveland and "The Decision" were a direct result of this. I think his erratic play his first season in Miami was because he didn't want to step on Wade or Bosh's toes.

Lebron had a great finals. Maybe he will take that step this year. D Wade's not going to get upset if Lebron is dominating games and the Heat are winning. Pippen seemed to not mind when Jordan was doing it.

Jordan had better intangibles....put Jordan in LeBron's body and then you have the a player better than Jordan. Lebron is an all-time great, but Jordan mentally was on a different level and that's what keeps him a notch above IMO...this is all just opinion bullshite anyway.
