Wasn't Joanna a Lannister on both sides? I can't remember for certain.
If they'll hurry up and finish the World of Ice and Fire Companion book it should shed some light on the timeline of Tywin's break with Aerys. But knowing Martin, he'll see that all possibilities remain open.

Jaime, Cersei, and Tyrion are Lannisters on both sides. Tywin and Joanna were cousins.

Is the companion book formatted like an encyclopedia? Am interested in reading it, but was hoping for quick ref type format.
Yeah, Martin likes to cloud issues/ even contradict them when he can, based on POV.
Very little about this story can be stated as fact, to those who have eyes to see. Belief or faith in what we want to be true...well, we can shite in one hand...
Let me know if you come across anything about the rift. My tendency to want to know why Martin says certain things drives me batshit - he's VERY careful with what he says, no wonder he takes forever to publish anything. I know (believe) he plays with our heads at times with no intention of clarification, but some of his breadcrumb trails must lead somewhere.
Case in point: The Tower of Joy. We, myself included, tend to assume it is an accurate memory, even though we are told its a dream. It would suck for Martin to exploit this "loophole", and i dont think he will, but he has shown even memories can't be trusted - recall Sansa thinks The Hound kissed her. Didn't happen, sweetling.

I finally started rereading the series again and I keep thinking that there is going to be something more to the door/underground passage that Arya stumbled upon when she was chasing the tomcat and had to escape from Tommen and Myrcella.
In fact, now that I'm typing this, I want to believe it is one of the ways that Arya will sneak back into the Red Keep to kill Cersei.

This is a great crackpot theory. Good job with this one. This is why I keep coming back to this thread. I believe that without a shadow of a doubt that Tyrion is Tywin's son. However, I like the theory that Jamie and Cersei are actually Aerys's bastards. It explains a lot and it actually kinda checks out.
It would be awesome if George R.R. Martin was reading this thread to get ideas for his novels in progress. It would be as if the interpreters of the novels were being interpreted by its writer, who then wrote their interpretations into novels that those interpreters would later interpret. Throneception!

Making him a kinslayer as well as a kingslayer no wonder his luck has been so shitty

Jaime's dream about the blonde woman
I read that as she was sad because, though they are a queen and knight, look at who they have become. Cersei is awful and Jaime, while redeeming himself more recently, has been horrid as well.
As for Tywins sisters comment, I saw that as more of a commemt that Cersei is dumb, Jaime is rash, but Tyrion sees the world as Tywin did.
That said, I really like the theory that the Lannister twins are Targs. Well thought and explained.

Honestly, I can't wait for Arya's arc next season. I'm guessing the whole season is going to be very Arya centric since most of her arc takes place before the Red Wedding. She better get an Emmy nom this year, or there will be hell to pay.

I accept this title along with all of the real authority it bestows, which in my opinion is the authority of an Admin for the page, and the ability to post porn and make personal attacks without the threat of bannage. Also, I need a hat...a big one. And one of these for my ban hammer:
