I rarely find myself on Team Diabetes but I make an exception in this case.

Friends, I finished a dance with dragons over the weekend. Started the series sometime in the fall.

Amazing work. Just started the dunk and egg series this week and guess I’m waiting on winds like everyone else now.

I’m no longer waiting.
I know how it ends, and all my big questions have been answered.

I am baffled that this thread still lives.

New Wild Card book came out last week, perfect time to catch up on that other series.

Read like 8-10 of those years ago. Loved the presidential convention one with Puppet man guy? When the alien protagonist (blanking on name) got body swapped then his grandkid went uh way to far that was a bit too much and think I stopped shortly after. Some of those were impossible to find too.

There are some of us that were late to the party. I watched the show but never read the books.

Now that Audiobooks are available through Amazon Music, I've been listening to these from the beginning. I just got to the Red Wedding today.

Hope you liked the ending to Dance, because that's all we're getting.

Feel like I'm never getting to A Dance of Dragons with the pacing in A Feast for Crows. This book is slow and besides Cersei, boring.

I feel like most people liked ADOD more than AFFC, but I was the opposite. I lied book 5 better with book 4 being my least favorite by far. And honestly, Cersei's prison time being my least favorite of all. My God I get sick of her just whining and crying for chapters on in.

The other frustrating part of the later books to me was he would start off so many chapters in a dream or warg POV. I love the books, but there were a few annoying things about them.

Not a fan of how the story ended though

I know this doesn't help you now, but I really appreciated AFFC more the second time I read it. You notice a lot more little items that seemed unimportant the first time around. Also, it helps doing the Boiled Letter order where you essentially read AFFC and ADWD at the same time.

It’s “boiled leather” edition, isn’t it?

Yeah, I was thinking leather in my head the entire time, but I think my fingers just wrote letter.

Agreed boiled leather reread is way to go. There is like one Jon part of the story that is a bit wonky iirc but made it so much better. As others said Feast is MUCH better on reread or side by side with Dance. All this said I’ll never reread it sadly cus we’re never getting more books ??.

I've heard this as well. The Arya parts are interesting I guess but the Dorne parts are tough. I think I'm not giving it the focus it deserves because of the horrible storyline in the show. I need to go back through those chapters when I'm done.

Some of you will just be pissed off by this, as you are by everything I announce here that is not about Westeros or THE WINDS OF WINTER. You have given up on me, or on the book.

I will never finish WINDS, If I do, I will never finish A DREAM OF SPRING. If I do, it won’t be any good. I ought to get some other writer to pinch hit for me… I am going to die soon anyway, because I am so old. I lost all interest in A Song of Ice and Fire decades ago. I don’t give a shite about writing any longer, I just sit around and spend my money.

I edit the Wild Cards books too, but you hate Wild Cards. You may hate everything else I have ever written, the Hugo-winners and Hugo-losers, “A Song for Lya” and DYING OF THE LIGHT, “Sandkings” and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, “This Tower of Ashes” and “The Stone City,” OLD MARS and OLD VENUS and ROGUES and WARRIORS and DANGEROUS WOMEN and all the other anthologies I edited with my friend Gardner Dozois.

You don’t care about any of those, I know. You don’t care about anything but WINDS OF WINTER.  You’ve told me so often enough). Thing is, I do care about them. And I care about Westeros and WINDS as well.  The Starks and Lannisters and Targaryens, Tyrion and Asha, Dany and Daenerys, the dragons and the direwolves, I care about them all. More than you can ever imagine.
