on 16 I hit 4 iron, 4 iron, wedge.

That hole sucks. The landing point for driver off the blue tee is the worst part of that fairway. Hit a 4 iron off the tee and take it out of play. Do the same on 17 and 18 if you have to. Try it next time.

I'm okay with 3 wood on 18. On 16 I keep forgetting that the rough juts out a bit. The "fairway" at that landing spot is a mud hole at the moment.

Thanks for the tip.

I'm so jealous of you, I had to cool it on the golf because it's so goddamn expensive and I'm no OT baller. I play once a week now and go to the range one other time

Well when you're young and single and have a decent job you can live like an ot baller without making ot baller money. I just go play after work. The people working there probably hate me though because I'm always there til about 7:30 or 8. Golf is about to slow down for me big time because of work though. I'll play a few days this week, but probably will only be able to play on Sundays for the next three months. There won't be much going on for me outside of work the other 6 days of the week... But then the 3 months after that I won't be doing jack as far as work goes.

Torn between rocketballz and r11s 3 wood. I didn't hit them at demo day, just the drivers and I liked the r11s driver much more than the RBZ.

I wasn't a fan of the RBZ either, but haven't hit the R11S. I got a Titleist 910D2 last week and that thing is sweet. Way more forgiving than I expected, and I feel like I've picked up a little yardage but nothing huge. I'm pretty pumped about it.

I'm with you about the R11 driver being better than Rocketbllz.

I hit an R11 3wd, and my nextdoor neighbor has the rocketbllz 3wd. He's an older guy, over 60. I'm 34. He pipes his rocketbllz as far as I hit the R11.

Driver is a different issue though. Not everyone should be hitting an R11 or R11S driver.
Old dudes do better with rocketbllz driver.

I had a RBZ and gave it to my kid, I just couldn't hit the thing as well as my old R580. I hit a guys Ping G20 Friday, felt real good. He says it's real forgiving and he picked up a good bit of distance with the low spin rate.

That limited edition G20 painted pink looks pretty cool.

If I had a spare 4 bones, I'd pick one up. Probably wouldn't even hit it. Just put it on the wall, or in a case.

Part of the proceeds go to cancer research.

What's the proper way to "select" a new driver besides hitting a bunch of them for a few hours?

I'm in the market for a new driver and hit a few but I'm just not sure -- they all feel relatively similar.

I have a G20 in the closet. Just wasn't for me. I've made some changes with my grip and stance since putting it away so maybe if I went back to it, it may be alright. It was reshafted by the previous owner and he had it cut down a little bit. It just felt weird to me. It wasn't the clubs fault, but I was pissed off so I just said frick this thing and went back to my G15 until I got the Titleist. I did hit a few really long drives with the G20. If you decide you want a G20 for like $200, email me at username@gmail, but post back in this thread to let me know you emailed me. I never check that email address.

im stuck in dallas til next week so i went and played tour 18 over in flower mound today. I went ahead and played it twice because the course was empty and i didnt have shite else to do. they gave me 2 rounds for $95 which is normally what 1 round cost but they are running some kind of special right now.

anyways i shot a 108 the first time and a 105 the second. Overall nice course and a beautiful area. Damn wind cost me a couple of strokes and then I lost 8 balls both rounds because I was playing by myself and its so hilly out there it was hard to keep track of were my balls landed. overall i played ok but i should have defiantly gotten a couple of birdies and broke a 100 for the first time but i left a lot of shots on the course. Pretty happy though cause my scores are steadily coming down.

I hit Ping irons, but hate their drivers. I've hit everything they've put out the last few years and just don't like them. The G20 I put some impact tape on at the demo. Kept hitting it in the middle of the tape and it was short and to the right everytime. My Diablo Octane was consistently 20+ yards longer and much more accurate.

I'm not a pro or a swing coach, but I'm pretty sure you just need to go by feel. And if they all feel relatively similar, look for the subtle differences you like about whichever feels the best.

After that, pick the one you hit the best. That's what I'd do.

Good, so it's not just me. I didn't have a distance issue. It was accuracy. I have Ping irons, wedges, putter, and a 4 wood. I love all of those, but after hitting the Titleist driver, I don't see myself changing anytime soon.

The proper way is to get fitted. The fun way is to go to a bunch if demo days and hit a ton of balls. That's what I did this year and the Callaway Razr Fit was by far the best for me. 280.3 carry, 301.4 total distance with Trackman. They're on sale at the moment at most places. A friend told me they were $220 at Dick's in Shreveport last week which is as good of a deal as you'll get.

fricking miserably hot today.

I played 3 rounds in Orlando over the last week and it was weak sauce in comparison to Copper Mill today.

I stopped using a glove about a month ago and started playing better. By the 11th hole, my grip was gone and I played like arse the rest of the way in.

I played at Calvert in a Golfweek Am tour event yesterday. Won the D flight with a 92. Anyway, when I got home I puked for 5 minutes. Just ridiculously hot yesterday.

Cart girl worked all of two hours during our near 5 hour round.

She left 50 players in a tourney to head to the house? If she would have stayed she would have pocketed another $150 or more if she had stayed out in tips.
