I had a solo dining bill with a comma in it once. I was on my honeymoon, my wife got ill and insisted I go to dinner at Tallivent without her. So I did. It was an all around awesome experience. Bill was split about 50/50 food/wine. I was feeling good that night and stole a towel from the bathroom, which I still have.

A thousand dollar meal ALONE on your honeymoon.
That might very well be the ballsiest thing I've ever heard.
My most expensive meal for two was a recent lunch in Paris which came to about $400 (not Tallivent, but along the same lines). Fantastic experience, but didn't get a towel out of the deal.

If you go to a place like that and just say "yes!" to every option, it's not that hard to run up a serious tab. Ditto on the wines.

We're planning our late July trip to France, I think we're going to be there for 17 days. Paris, Provence region, Burgundy region (or visa-versa), the coast (Nice, Cannes) then back to Paris for the last 4 days.
We're going to need food recs if you don't mind...

Three best meals, in no particular order:
Cafe Constant
Le Grand Vefour (place I'm talking about above. Chowhound's posters call it a "cliche" but I enjoyed the ever living hell out of the whole over the top experience)
Moustache
I was only in Paris.

The lady and I dropped about $160 at Texas de Brazil a few weeks ago. I had a few beers and her a few glasses of wine+desert. It was well worth it. The caramel cream cheese was some of the best I've ever had.

Am I the lowball winner at 80 bucks so far?

$250 for the wife's bday at the Village Grille in Shreveport. NOT WORTH IT. Terrible experience there. Waiter was a db, and her "kobe" NY strip was pedestrian at best. Very disappointed and won't be headed back there.

$350ish at Nobu in NYC.

Are the tables really close together like back in the day?
Posted on 3/26/12 at 4:55 pm to Zach
Yeah. We had reservations several days ahead of time and got a table by the bar.... That's just the beginning. I'm about to post a review on urbanspoon, I'll copy over here when I'm done. It was atrocious.

My wife and I used to go to the US Open Tennis Tournament every late summer. Went to Jean George's I think in 2002 and had some riduclous tasting menu with wine pairings and a great bottle of champagne for dessert. Think it was like 1,200.00.
By myself the year before the wife got sunburned at Flushing Meadows and didn't want to go out. Had reservations at Nobu and went by myself. About 500.00 later and much sake and off menu shite I poured myself out a cab.
Biggest tab was my 30th birthday party. Rented out Clancy's for an entire night with around 60 people. About 12,000.00. That AMEX bill sucked!!
