Thanks for posting some real facts. It seems 90% of the post on this subject somehow turns into a BS bash Miles thread.

same as it was last yr, with a lot less QB running. beat the other team up with the run, mix in some passing off playaction and run-heavy looks. get the ball out to the WRs in space on screens when the opportunities arise.

hopefully throw the ball on avg 25 times/ game, and at a min 20 in every one. even if we're playing cream puffs. the QBs and WRs could use the reps.

Miles Passing Percentage at LSU
2011: 31% pass (13-1)
2010: 36% pass (11-2)
2009: 44% pass (9-4)
2008: 44% pass (8-5)
2007: 42% pass (12-2)
2006: 45% pass (11-2)
2005: 41% pass (11-2)

Miles Passing Percentage at OSU
2004: 25% pass (7-5)
2003: 40% pass (9-4)
2002: 50% pass (8-5)
2001: 49% pass (4-7)

This should tell you all you need to know. Early on, Miles ran a wide open scheme, even with talent less than what LSU had. Also, speaks to the amount of times he was probably trailing at OK St. Then he came to LSU with JR and Flynn, and still never reached OK. St percentages.

His last year at Ok St 25% passing. Yes, 25%.

Last year at LSU was 31%

He is VERY conservative. He wants to grind it out, and win it in the 4th. Crowton confirmed this. We also saw that philosophy in the BCS game

I don't expect very much to change, to be honest. At almost 60, Miles is pretty much set in his ways

And there isn't a poster on here that will refute that. That is what is so scary about our HC. Results pretty damn strong, but hard-headed is he.

Miles stated that the QB situation caused LSU to call more run plays in 2011, and he looks forward to being more balanced in 2012.

no Josh Fields, no Rashaun Woods. if anything, I think he just wasn't prepared for Fields to leave. if I'm not mistaken, that last yr OSU started Woods' younger bro at QB, and he was better suited to be a WR or DB. gotta adapt to your personnel as best as you see fit.

Miles says a lot of things

But by going from the 'successful' offensive in early 2011 to the 'conservative' offense when the BCS was on the line, should tell you were his mindest really is.

Several people have posted that he plays not to lose I think that is very, very accurate

I expect to see something close to the 55% Run/45% Pass, split we saw in 2006.

Miles also stated that JJ was much improved as a QB and team leader for three years straight.

Come up with a gameplan that plays to your strengths, get to 13-0 then completely switch it up to a 3 play gameplan and get arse fricked by the other team in the BCS title game. [/thread]

Again, it was Miles 4th (and last yr) at Okla St. He had time to find someone. He just doesnt seem to be able to recognize or judge the QB position effectively.

The starting QB at OSU in 2004 was eventually switched to the defensive side of the ball. WTF? That is all on Miles. He wants an athlete that he can use at QB, not a true throwing QB. IMHO

If playing not to lose is an offensive philosophy, then you can expect to see it in 2012. For sure it offends me.

Seriously, unlike most who've answered this thread, I'd say it's going to depend on the abilities of the new starting QB. If the QB's on hand show what Lee & JJ showed with regards to strengths and weaknesses, expect more of the same. If, however, a QB emerges who can both run AND pass, look forward to a much improved scheme, IMHO of course :)

Last year was the most conservative year for passing since Miles has been at LSU. The staff was forced to start the backup QB; thus, the team focused on running the ball.

You keep saying this...but really, we were up big in a lot of games which is going to skew the stats.

When the game is out of hand by the start of the 3rd quarter and you go 90% run and control the ball then that's what you get

Agreed. I'm not sure why he thought Jefferson was good enough to scheme an entire offense around. His passing ability was mediocre, he wasn't a great runner, there was really no reason to take carries away from our very talented RBs, and give to Jefferson.
