If given the choice between Sobieski, Grey Goose, Kettle One, or Tito's...for a life time supply...Sobieski...and it aint even close!

Not sure why, but I can't drink cheap vodka, like Taaka. My face gets flush and I get short of breath.. Like an allergic reaction.
Grey Goose is the smoothest and mildest, to my taste. I keep it in the freezer. It's great straight up.

Ultimat. Polish vodka comprised of potato, wheat and rye. $40 and well worth it if you like dirty martinis or just straight up.
had some of that the other day, on the rocks. it's a pretty good vodka but I couldn't tell the difference in a blind taste test
my go to vodka is finlandia... get it pretty cheap at the stennis mini mart.

Vodka is Vodka, once you get above the Albertson's brand/taaka level.
It's all about marketing. I remember reading an interesting article about the guy who marketed Jaegermeister in the US, who basically priced Grey Goose higher than the premium vodka at that time (absolut) in order to make people believe it's something special.

I buy titos for $15 a bottle. It really is a waste to pay much more than that for anything, especially if you are mixing it.

Svedka. Good, smooth and cheap. Vodka is vodka up to a point. But I can certainly tell the difference between Taaka and Svedka. Svedka and Goose not so much. You can get a 1/2 gallon of this for less than $25.

It really is a good story for any of you who have time to google and read it.

And people will still swear up and down that they can tell the difference between them...when they simply can't. Again, once you get above pure rot-gut, it's all the same. It's supposed to be a tasteless, odorless spirit.

I've posted this story on the board more than once. The guy is Sidney Frank, and he died a few years ago. There have been articles about him in the NY Times, New Yorker and other publications.
He obtained the rights to Jaegereister decades ago and knew he could promote it heavily in the U.S., especially to young people. He succeeded.
He and his marketing team then decided to import Grey Goose from France to the U.S. They redesigned the label and marketed it as the best vodka available. Eventually he sold it to Bacardi for a fortune.
His next project was going to promote a tequila, but he never made it before he died, as far as I know.
Back to vodka. Once you get to triple distilled, I really don't think it matters much.
I buy Tito's for home just for the hell of it. I may drink Stoli at a bar. Only if I'm drinking a plain martini may I consider anything more expensive, and even then I don't know that it's worth it. And, frankly, Smirnoff is fine for mixed drinks.

Smirnoff Triple Distilled
I kid, but really not bad, especially for $12.95.

One of the best buys in the U.S. liquor market.

I managed to get my hands on Crystal Head Vodka, and I mainly got it because of the bottle. But when I chilled it and took a shot, man o man. What a vodka! This is the smoothest vodka I've ever had.
