And I agree that Kevin just needs to explain to upper management the bullshite that the hotel staff did, and he would get that and a lot more comped. shite, Rob Schneider ruffled through Kevin's mom's purse (or his dad's bag or whatever) at one point. Then the shite that Tim Curry pulled with literally spying on a guest in their own bathroom, he would likely be fired and potentially arrested, and the hotel would bend over backwards to accommodate Kevin and his family.

You realize that’s the reason why they’re in a mansion sized suite at the end right. That was the accommodation for fricking up so badly.

Also, the biggest plot hole in the movie —in addition to the McAllisters not calling their own home to see if Kevin would answer

Phone lines were down. Jeeze have you ever seen the movie?

Yes, and yet still Kevin calls a day or so later and orders a pizza from Little Nero's. Peter calls their next door neighbors and leaves a message while Marv and Harry are ransacking the house. I literally explained this in the post you quoted.

Have you ever seen the movie?

How could he possibly know the exact time they would come on?
Assuming the 3 homeowners told him the time the lights would come, they would have all said say 7pm.
He wouldnt know which house would come on afew seconds earlier

I always assumed this was a way to show how closely Harry has been watching these houses. Yeah, he did his undercover cop thing to learn when people were leaving, but knowing the lights schedule just shows he's been scouting quite a few nights to have everything memorized.

That's exactly what it meant to show. Not sure of the confusion there.

If we assume the first house set the lights for say 7pm, did the next house set it for 7:00:10 and the next house for 7:00:20? And its pretty amazing harrys watch is synched up to the second with 3 different houses. How could he possibly know the exact time they would come on?

Others have already responded, but I wanted to add...

If you remember or were alive then, 1990 didn’t have universal internet/iPhone time that everyone in America was synced on. It would have been EXACTLY like the movie demonstrated. Everyone set their automatic timers for “7:00pm” but in reality they would have all been several seconds difference between all of them.

Harry has been studying the neighborhood. He looks down at his wristwatch at 7pm and observes each house light as they come on and notes at which second it occurs. Very simple. He could achieve that in just 2 nights to watch and confirm following day.

I am watching now and I am sure this has been discussed, but why hitch a ride with the polka band instead of just renting and driving herself? Was she broke? I assume not as she was trying to buy a ticket to fly. Would be much faster I would think to just haul arse herself.

Why didn't the pizza guy call the cops?
Why didn't the shovel slayer call the cops?

How could he still hear the gunshots from the tv after he ran completely around the house to his car?
At least it was semi-believable for Marv since he was hearing firecrackers in the pot.

Every decision she ever made was the wrong one.

Something I think has been downplayed here on how big of an a-hole the McCallisters as a whole are is they’re chowing down on pizza for 10 minutes (enough time for all the cheese pizza to be gone) while the driver has yet to be paid. Anyone else start chowing down on pizza and watch the delivery driver while you eat it for a quarter of an hour before paying him?

frick no she wasn’t broke. She’s always looking for a third party to blame in case things go wrong.

He may have called the cops, but I believe the movie implied Kevin called the cops to come to the address Kevin got caught in. Speaking of that part of the movie, how does Old Man Marley let Kevin go home by himself that night? The kid almost gets murdered and the old man sends him home to sleep alone?

New development, but the cop the Mom is talking to is a young Andrew Cuomo. I guess letting people dying without any fricks given makes more sense now.

It didn't imply, Kevin is shown calling the cops and directing them to go to the Murphys.
