Where to start while trying to bring new perspectives to the table.
Did anyone else notice that Kevin basically spends almost all of his on screen time(Christmas Break) with his family either punished, belittled, ignored, or being pranked by his family?
This is the holiday season when people are generally on their best behavior...what if this was the McAllister family on their best behavior?
If Kevin literally spends his Christmas Holidays from school grounded in back to back years and this is the only time we see him...how many times throughout the year does he spend punished for trying to defend himself against a brother nearly what 5 years older/80lbs bigger than him that can pick on him at will with protection from their shared parents?
Or against his other siblings who have observed this pattern and also want to lash out with no fear of repercussion?
Kevin during his family interrogation voices built up resentment on how his family treats him and how he feels he is perceived by his family(again supports that this is an every day thing and not just a one time occurance)
it is literally a cry for help and the very sentiment is almost immediately dismissed entirely by his entire family who refuse to even attempt to address the issue in any capacity. Kevin is not even worth addressing in terms of trying to calm a young adolescent mind and any confusion he may be experiencing. They do not ask him to explain what he means because they are either completely aware and condone the behavior or they don't care
Also what kind of worthless Mother and Father would laugh when their younger child is publicly humiliated by their older teenage son who should know better and set an example for all his younger siblings.
"Aww Buzz, that was really nice."
"Kevin what do you have to say for ruining the play!"

Just imagining the look on Daniel Stern's face makes this amazing

37 pages so I’m not reading, but I absolutely love this bit on Home Alone 2.
Lost in NY? It’s a grid system mother fricker!

Did we ever learn what Kevin's dad did for a living?
I like to combine fictional universes and pretend that he’s also his character from The Sopranos and is living a lavish lifestyle as a bent cop who is an informant for the mob.

Thank you for bumping. I'm going to hang lights, drink eggnog and read through this thread later. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

Mulaney's parents declined an audition for him to be Kevin.
So, that makes that bit meta as frick.

Anyone else notice that when Kevin is visiting the World Trade Center's observation deck, there's no one else there? You would think at Christmastime in NYC the place would be packed.

Why does Jeff put his toothbrush in his pocket?
Why is Kevin's aunt telling him to go pack his suitcase? Do a better job at parenting your own shitbag kids before anyone else's.
I'm sure this has been said but it still bothers me that there's a police officer in the house and no one even blinks. Peter McCallister just offers him some eggnog and walks off. I'd be like "whoa why the hell isnthere a cop INSIDE my house?"
The attic was not insulated. How can you send 2 kids up there to sleep, in Chicago in the winter? It had to have been in the 40s in that attic.

$12 pizza in 1990. That seems a little steep.
Anything think the pizza guy looks like he could be Kevin's older brother?

How did Aunt Leslie and the kids call everyone they were supposed to in the 40 seconds that the mom was on the phone with the Chicago police department?

The Santa wreath was so sinister

The airport vans get there for 8 am. What kind of lazy pos adults don't wake up on their own before 8?

We’ve been overanalyzing this film for years, but why does he do it? I don’t think we’ve gone over this. It could possibly be because he was taught by his dad to always carry a shiv, giving more power to the theory that the McCallisters are an Irish mob or at least a branch of one.

He probably just assumed that the police chief sent one of his underlings to take one of their bribes.

The kind that typically do their work at night.
