do you honestly think he does as much as Manning? Manning has to make plays or the Colts can't win. Big Ben just needs to not frick things up too badly

and here's more info on this measure. Basically, if your record is better than the expected record, then your performance wasn't as good as the record indicates. If the record is worse than your expected record, then you are a good qb whose performance was better than his record indicates. This clears up some of the muddle and nonsense around qb record and the foolish "rings" argument.

maybe career wise, but only an idiot would argue that Brees hasn't been on that level since coming to NOLA.

That doesn't mean he should be a HOFer. He is a solid above average QB all time.

He is a really good active QB, but people want to call him one of the all time greats.

No, Dan Marino is the most overrated QB of all time. His 8-10 playoff record speaks volumes. He was the Jay Cutler of his era, disappear when the pressure was greatest. Jim Plunkett was 8-2 for comparison.

Marino in the postseason 32:24 TD:INT ratio.

Plunkett 11:12, with 2 really good games and otherwise a horrible and shitty postseason career.

Also interesting to note, Bill Walsh, years later, once said that when he was watching the Dolphins warm up on the field in the Super Bowl, he noticed that they were the slowest, and most unathletic team he had ever seen.

So, I guess having a shitty supporting cast around you and playing BETTER in the postseason makes Marino overrated and Plunkett soooooo awesome.

I'll never even begin to understand that logic.

Oh man. So statistically he's as good as the others AND he wins more than damn near anyone else, but he's just not as good as them. I don't think we should talk anymore.

Some people consider him to be the greatedst QB of all time. Since I don't think he comes close to that level I think he is the most overrated. I think Dan Fouts is right up there with him among the overrated, but that is just my opinion.

The two links that I posted above bear out what you're saying about QB record in relation to QB quality. Mainly, a lot of QBs have better records than what their actual play would be expected to produce, and a lot of QBs have worse records than what their actual play would be expected to produce. Thus, some guys get wrongly bashed for their post season record and others get wrongly praised for the same.

with quotes like this you really live up to your screen name

what it speaks volumes to is your ignorance that you think 1 guy who only plays half of the game gets all the credit/blame for team accomplishments.
