My parents have been die hard fans forever. I used to wear little Saints cheerleading outfits as a baby!

But, I really got into them around 1997.

I've only followed them since that 2006 season but I'm just as big a fan as anyone now. If the Saints are losing, my family knows not to talk to me because I'm not exactly a ray of sunshine. Right before Porters pick in the SB, a family friend had come over. A southern baptist woman who is in her late 60's. When Porter picked that pass, I let out a "Fu** Yeah!!" and realized she probably wouldn't like that but I didn't give a damn at that point.

I've been going to Saints games since 1991 when I was only 2 years old, but my parents have been having season tickets since the late 1970's. The farthest I can remember though would be sometime between 1994-1995.

Mid 60's when it was announced that New Orleans would get an NFL franchise.
I remember what a bid deal that was for Louisiana. I was a kid but
I can recall all the hoopla that went along with it.

This. I've been going to Saints games since before I could walk. My Dad has had season tickets since '67.

The first memories I have of watching tv are of watching Saints games with my family. This was probably when I was about 4-5 in the mid 80's.

1989

11yrs old. Played the LA Rams at their place and I watched on TV. I believe it was Gill Fenerty that was the big time player that day. Was a hard fought battle and I was cheering on the team from Louisiana

1967. Those early days seem like centuries ago now. I lived through too many years when the chief adjective for the Saints was "hapless."

As an aside, I'm glad Dave Dixon lived long enough to see the Saints win the Super Bowl. Without him, there would be no Saints OR Superdome.

My dad is from Texas so he tried to raise me as a Cowboys fan. Although I liked the Cowboys, the Saints were always my team thanks to my mom's side of the family who rescued me. I've been a Saints fan as far back as I can remember since I was a little kid. I remember playing tackle football with the neighborhood kids with a plastic Saints helmet and some flimsy shoulder pads thinking I was Rickey Jackson. I'd say it was about 1986 when I really got into it. I was eight years old and I liked Reuben Mayes. I have a ton of respect for you older guys who went through the real shitty years.

Now, I absolutely hate the Cowboys and have been thrown out of several sports bars for yelling at their fans. I consider that a badge of honor.

February 7th, 2009 is the greatest night in my life as a sports fan. Bigger than anything LSU has done and I never thought I would say that.

glad to see some other old suckers

wabbit- I'm glad we lived long enough! After my son got older I occasionally wondered if he would have to carry the faith on like generations of Cubs fans.

Any of you ancient fans ever subscribe to a Saints fan rag they had at the start? I don't remember the name. It was a weekly newsprint format. My walls were plastered with that stuff. (that and dayglo psychedelic posters)

Finally, particular kudos to the lifers who made it through the Mecom era. Twenty years to get to the first winning season was a marathon many cannot even imagine. A lot of fans were washed out over that period. Those who endured the taunts and identification of "your Saints" then received a little extra joy when reaching the Lombardi this year.

1987, I was 13 years old and had just moved back to Shreveport from Hawaii. My Granddad is originally from the New Orleans area so he watched every Saints game that came on local TV. We might have only been able to watch 2-3 games a year, but he made sure I rooted for the Saints and Tigers.

From 1977-80 I was a Seahawks fan - friends were fans of Oilers and Dolphins, but I guess I liked the up-and-coming Jim Zorn. I was eleven. By 1982-83, I was watching the Saints, and it was a lot easier to be a Saints fan during the Mora tenure. I've been a Saints fan since probably 1982, age fourteen.

When I was 6 in 1967. Every Sunday during the season, we went to my grandparents house to eat Sunday lunch and watch the Saints. Thank God we got the Monroe station and not the Shreveport station.
